Here's another video of my 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Ultimate Edition with custom rear access doors with power windows. Toyota manufactured these FJ's with fixed windows. It was either sell the Truck or Make it fit my needs! It was worth the trouble. My dog's are extremely happy and so am I.

I'd love to see this done with a rear window as well!! Having all 3 rear windows power down would be sweet! Currently, I can't open the rear because of my ladder.

All I can say about sun roofs is they are beautiful, but just like a boat is only a hole in the ocean that you keep pouring $$ into So is a sun roof, once you open a hole to the elements, its only a matter of time, until they find there way in, and totally ruin your day! I've had my fair share of sun roof fails, and now that Im wiser I'd much rather go without one.

Sorry again for the delay on response.. Keep forgetting to check the account. Thanks for all the comments. Been super busy with work and short on time. My shop will be producing a new set of doors (we'll actually be modifying my Blue FJ's original doors) in the next month. My plan is to place a video camera over the work station to provide a detailed view on how it's done. I have several sets of glass already produced along with molds for the door panels. The original set of door panels are made of carbon fiber, but Fiberglass can be used as well. The only change to the new set of doors will be the small skinny fixed window to the rear of the power window will be see-through and framed in. I'll have to figure out the cost of the parts (glass, window motors, door panels) and I may consider offering the labor after discussions with staff. More to follow soon.. Thanks, Daryl. +Daryl Alison So these are completely custom doors? The windows look very good, 100% OEM. Unfortunately, with the FJ platform the rear door is both the anchoring point for the shoulder harness and the front door latch. Swapping the entire door for a new door, carbon fiber or fiberglass, will mean that you cannot count on your seat belt anchor to stay attached or door to stay shut in the event of a collision. Have you considered the potential liability you'll assume by selling these doors? These is no price you could put on them that would allow you to actually crash test them, I think you could have a serious problem on your hands. I am in no way bashing you, I am just really curious if you have given any thought to this. Not to mention, the platform already had to have re-enforcement brackets added to the door in a recall because shoulder harness anchors were already pulling out of the stock doors.

Wow, thats awesome. Im sure it was not cheap but it looks sweet, your dogs must be super happy. Im looking at the FJ Freedom Windows at present for mine. Im thinking they will be more in my budget range. Thanks for sharing.

Ok, so you've molded a new trim from the old. You probably had to de-skin the door's inner metal frame, and you built a custom frame for the existing fj window, or were lucky to find a frame from a different car (maybe toyota) wiring a switches would be straight forward... So the motor and window guide are the hard parts.. If you want to sell a kit im in, otherwise I'll be designing my own in about 2-4 months from now. Would prefer if we can work something out. Great work

meh I don't feel like there's any more benefit to having the clam shell door windows powered basically just gives you bigger side windows. I think the more worth while mod would be to power the rear window that way you can actually have legit airflow thoughout the cab.

The whole interior door panel was made of carbon fiber. The new versions are more simplified but hopefully more affordable for the average consumer.

Daryl Alison Very nice and clean job , but I don't understand why you didn't make the whole window to go down. that little piece you left to be stationary is a waste of the whole area. other than that you did a wonderful job. Now could you make the whole glass go down or is there a reason why you went your way ? and if so are you selling this product ?.

Sorry for the delayed response. No, sorry I’m not selling this conversion. The reason for not making the entire space go down, is simply because there is not enough room. If you look at the door in the open position you can see why. The door is too narrow to accommodate the entire space for the window to drop into. Thanks.

Hi, our original plan was to use existing doors. It took an enormous amount of work and custom fabrication to build them. I had to have custom glass made, custom door panels and used power window regulators from a Ford Extended cab truck. My plan was to offer custom fabrication but realized it was going to cost too much and no one would be willing to pay $7000.00. The other problem is there was the liability issue. Since the rear doors serve as the anchoring points for the front seatbelts, my attorney said it wasn’t a good idea to build them. I will be posting a video on my here soon, showing pics of the fabrication work, since I’ve had so many requests how we did it, to help those who may want to give it a try on their own. Thanks
