Great video. My 2011 FJ TT has nearly the same issue (some dry rot cracks appeared on the rear door trim). Your truck looks absolutely amazing. For 10 years old, your FJ looks like it just rolled off the lot yesterday. Beautiful truck! The Army Green (including the roof top) is still my favorite. After watching this video, I bought the same parts and tools. Looking forward to fixing the only flaw on my truck, those rear door trim strips. After 10 years, these things still rock like new.

My trim tool kit was blue and junk. The tools were soft and were just used to get under the trim where I could get hold of it. The tools in Trail Pass vid looked to have some backbone. I changed all four pieces and was a snap. Tkx TP

I bought the ones for my 2010 FJ Cruiser front door windows from the dealer. The Dealer service center wanted to charge me $200 in labor to install them. lol. I did it myself. The parts cost me around $60. Now my back door weather strips are falling apart. Thanks for the Amazon links.

I realize the video is at least a year old, but wanted to thank you for the video. Picked up the 4 parts from the dealer this morning ($81.20 including tax) and just finished installing. I had the plastic trim tool set ( Harbor Freight) already and used painters tape like you to protect the paint. Total time was about 40 minutes not rushing.

Hey Bandit all you gotta do is run a bead of black calking along the top behind the rubber window trim, I had the same problem with my 2016 Tacoma.

I was upset when you got rid of your Tacoma, but I'm really excited about the FJ videos. Still one of my favorite vehicles ever, and still hope I can find a good one some day. For some reason the ones I find that are a decent buy are always yellow. That's not happening. lol

Thanks for posting this, I’ve was just noticing mine trim on my 2011 FJ needs to be replaced as well. I’m ordering this kit now. But I like you’re FJ much better... does yours have the Crawl Control? I’m thinking that option is only for certain models in 2013-2014?
@TrailPass
@TrailPass 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, what color/options are on your FJ? You're correct, the 2013 and 2014 FJs are the only ones with crawl control (and the price on those are crazy). I just have A-Trac and a locker.

Bandit Off-road mine is Brick Red and I just added some KC LED Daylighters to the factory bumper this past weekend, was nervous drilling through the bumper but they look pretty good. And while I was installing it I noticed that behind the lower grill the previous owner had a RV mount attached so I’m guessing my 71,500 miles might not actually be that but lower due to whomever towing it places. Not much other options than a standard FJ. Next mod is going to be the Uptop Overland Rooftop Rack which I’m told is going to be released in March. I think the factory roof rack looks great but it’s pretty useless to do any serious storage or tent options with it because of the static load, think that’s the right term.

Bandit Off-road I’ll have to send you a picture on the Gram, what’s you handle? I’m @texasteven In the FJ, my first favorite mod was turning off the DRL, having on all them time was annoying but it took me literally 3-5 mins to disconnect with out and cutting or screw drivers. I’ll try to add a couple in the morning

I wish I had watched your video before I broke the clips on BOTH end of the driver’s door weatherstrip. The clips on the new weatherstrip (original Toyota part) are just as brittle as the clips on the old weather stripping. I have a large quantity and styles of plastic fasteners for plastic and rubber parts for several different makes of cars.WARNING - if your are stupid like me and break the clips on the new molding, don’t bother trying to make another type of clip work. For that matter, even if you found the same clip Toyota uses, it wouldn’t do you any good. It seems that the clips on both ends of the weather strip were installed from the inside out. There is no way to put another clip, of any type, into the rubber “pocket” that holds this clip in place. There are little “feet” that you can’t see about 1/8” long that extend 90 degrees into the sides of the rubber pocket and hold the clip in place. One good thing, Rock Auto sells the genuine Toyota part for $45 for the entire set of 4 with a minimal shipping charge if I have to buy another set. I’m going to try to use weatherstripping adhesive on the end where the clips were until I broke them off. I must have the IQ of a walnut because this is about the 10,000th time I read the instructions AFTER I attempted the job. My favorite story: a guy is pulled over on the side of a busy street in the city. The engine was making a weird noise so he stopped to see what it was. He was looking under the hood when heard a voice say “Are your having trouble with your car young man?” I looked over and saw this little old lady holding an umbrella; of course in addition to my car breaking down, it was also starting to rain. She walked over to share her umbrella and before I could thank her she said “Well, this is your lucky day”. I was wet and frustrated at this point and I felt like making a sarcastic remark but instead I said “Why is it my luck day”. She pointed to a building across the street and said there is a national conference of auto mechanics going on over there right now. I said “Thank you” By now it was pouring rain, I was soaking wet, frustrated and had no idea what was wrong with my car. How many of you would be stubborn enough to keep trying to fix the car yourself instead of walking across the street and ask for help? Two hours later the same little old lady came by again. This time she walked up to me, with my head still under the hood of the car. She had a screwdriver in her hand and said “Move aside sonny”. As I stepped aside she walked up to the car, adjusted some gizmo on the engine and said “Ok. It will run now”. As I got in my car, and turned the key it started right up. As I looked out the window, I could see the old lady waving goodbye to a group of mechanics standing out side the building across the street.
