Your videos crack me up. I completely agree though that the gx is a much better truck. I was actually looking for a 4Runner but due to inventory shortages ended up buying a gx, and boy am I glad I did. The v8 alone makes it worth it let alone the much better fit and finish. They are both good vehicles but I personally prefer the gx.

We picked up my wife's GX last year while Toyota shopping Loaded 4Runners were being priced in the low $50s, and I realized for another $6-10k we could get a GX with an even more obnoxious grille PLUS a V8, more sophisticated 4WD, a bit more room, and better materials/ build quality. It was a no brainer. 4Runners are nice (I used to have a 3rd gen) but they are overpriced.

I drove a 4 Runner Limited for over 15 years. 2 years ago I upgraded to the GX460 and I love it. The V8 has so much more power. I no longer dog it going up a hill or on the freeway. The only thing I hate about the GX460 is the sideways opening door. If you’re parked at the curb trying to get stuff out of the back you have to walk around the open door or close it.

What's crazy is I see people spending many thousands more on 4Runners than GXs.

I was about to buy a 4runner, but my buddy who had a 4runner trd pro recently purchased a gx460 and said if he could do it all over again he would have never bought the 4runner and went straight for the GX. So I took his advice and went with the gx460. I paid less for the GX than I would have for the 4runner and it's so much better. To me I see very few flaws besides the MPG, the only thing that gets me is the touchscreen fan speed. I can't understand the HMI engineers reasoning behind designing everything important to be physical buttons except the fan speed haha. Otherwise I love it. So glad I went GX, it's a better vehicle in almost every way and you can get one used for a great price.

I was shopping for a 4Runner TRD PRO model, dealer wanted 10k mark up. Went to Lexus, dealer said we don’t do any mark up bc we want you to come back for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th Lexus down the road. Ordered and received a 2022 GX. End up being the same price as the pro bc of the Toyota mark ups. Love this video, actually makes me laugh and smile.

I've got a 2019 4Runner SR5 Premium that I'm selling this week for GX 460 Premium Plus. Not only does the GX have lights in the 3rd row, it also has HVAC vents that the 4Runner doesn't have. Everywhere you look, the GX has features the 4R doesn't, which makes it a much easier vehicle to live with day-to-day.

People have been sleeping on these. Nicest vehicle I’ve owned and has so much off road capability with very little modification needed.

I bought my GX while I was in the market for a 4R. Newer, cheaper and I'm happy as a clam I went with a GX!

You're a funny dude. I can't believe YT lets you do your stuff. Thankfully they do. I just traded my '21 4runner limited for my GX460. BOTH great trucks but the GX is a cut above for sure.

One thing I really wish the GX had that the 4runner has is the rear window. There is no spare tire, and that should have been any easy add. Even the Tundra has it. Also, so annoying that the auto lights do not turn on when the auto wiper do. This was also a no-brainer in my opinion. The only real complaint I have with my 2023 gx is the front cup holders have these little swivel support arms and they constantly make noise when there is any cup in them. Supper annoying.... especially since the rest of the car is so quiet.

I think the issue with the 4Runner is the darn 5 speed gearbox. It seriously needs another gear. The 4.0L V6 is actually adequate in most situations.

I was looking for a 4Runner Limited. But a used GX460 was cheaper and typically much better taken care of.

Hilarious video! I have a 2012 Limited 4Runner with 72k miles and a 2014 GX with 55k miles. Both had to be repainted because of paint delaminating from the primer. (Dealer said Lexus and Toyota would not cover the obvious manufacturing paint defect because of the island we live in… sea spray BS.) The 4Runner leather seats still look new. On the GX, the Nuluxe leather is cracking/tearing on the perforated inserts. (I’m working on replacing them with real leather.) GX plastic parts haven’t aged as well as the 4Runner. They’re more brittle. I’ve had to replace all the GX door handles and some interior pieces like the sun visors, 3rd row seat release, seat belt retainer, etc. 4Runner has not had any major issue so far. While with the GX I’ve just replaced the radiator, thermostat and water pump… and I may need to address a possible valley pan coolant leak. As much as I love my GX, my 4Runner is built with better quality parts.

I have both a 16 GX Luxury trim and 22 TRD Pro 4Runner. Keep in mind that's a 6 year difference!!! Its not fair to compare drivetrains, yes the GX feels better then a 4runner but only when compared to a 4runner. The GX is super slow in general comapred to regular cars. GX has much bigger side view mirrors and has BSM, while the TRD Pro has blind spot monitoring, only for 2023 other trims have it as standard!!! No BSM on such large SUVs. 4R has bigger trunk space, bc it lacks 3rd row seats which are useless, there are other more practical SUVs with 3rd row if you do need a 3rd row. 4Runner has a 3 prong outlet in the back while GX has 2 prong. I got crawl control in the GX as well and it FEELS better in the snow vs the 4Runner. I had to get aftermarket tires and wheels (KO2) for the GX, while 4runner is off road ready from the box. 4Runner gets better MPG by one or two. 4Runner seating positions is too high up to the floor, making GX have a LOT more head room, yes GX is a few inches taller. GX has seat memory, so it's convenient if you have wife/so drive it occasionally. 4runners even doe 2023 you have to manually adjust Yes electric side folding mirrors in the GX is very convenient for car washes, garages, tight parking space ect GX has a mirror to look into back seats, 4runner doesn't. Heated steering wheel and ventilated seats AND 3rd ZONE auto climate control AND rear seat heating!! 4Runners still don't come with those yet cost 60K now! Easier to fold the seats down in the GX and they lay more flat, better for camping and cargo. The 2nd row seats recline and slide back in the GX, the 2nd row passengers space is massive and very comfortable. Better leather materials, while TRD Pro only has better upholstery trims that doesn't scratch easily and wash. 4runner has the back window but the gx back hatch is more confrotbale for short people and perfect for getting groceries out in the garage, the 4runner hits the garage door when opening it fully. GX has a real back up camera but 4runner has some pixalated crap from 2005. Remember I'm comparing a 2016 and 2022 vehicles!! The Mark levinsgton audio system is amazing in general, it's better then most premium audio systems. Better then Harmon Kardon I have in my 6 figure BMM, just as a good as Mercedes Burmeister, also was a 6 figure car. JBL in the 4 runner is okay. GX lights up the floor boards when you walk by it with key fob , just walking by not even opening it. The TRD Pro does look bad ass, the GX is driven by old people, soccer moms mostly, that's what I see on a road. Much younger crowd or cool soccer moms drive the 4runner here. In the end I'm glad I have both

GX*BOB you should watch regularcarreviews review of a gx - just for laughs. I appreciated his reviews before he shellacked the GX and called it boring. So many people shouting, "THIS one is better! YOURS sucks!" If I could, I would combine the best of both trucks to make a ToyotaLEX GXFourunner60. Lots of things to appreciate on both but I have a GX and I love it. That V8 -----VROOOOOOOMMMMMMM!

I’ve had a Toyota Landcruiser and a Lexus LX 470 GREAT vehicles. I now have a 2017 Lexus GX and love it too. There’s only one thing that makes me crazy, and that’s that it doesn’t have a digital speedometer! Seriously???

I've bought a Trd off-road 2018 4Runner , new back then and when hauling my boat it kinda sucked and quality you can tell GX is way better . Like the look of 4Runner but GX has the power and quality

I drive a Prado 4.0L V6 Petrol which is very similar to GX except that amazing V8 in GX

I once drove a 4runner that had a V8, airbags, etc. It was awesome, but then they neutered it so people would spend the extra money on the GX. Now they are making the 4R much more expensive and putting a crap 4banger turbo in it..........I bet the GX goes the same route, unfortunately.

Both vehicles built from the same plant the 4Runner is hardly a POS. We’ve owned a 16 and 18 4R and enjoyed them. Our 22 GX is a better value than the current price of a 4Runner and now enjoying the V8.

What about the super crappy rear back up camera on the 22 4Runner, in fact all 4Runners, i assume its still the same for 2023 model, while a 2016 GX in my case have a high definition one? The vehicles are made on the same assembly line, you're telling they can't install a higher res camera that's being installed on the GX for the past 8 years at least on a 4runner? Or is Toyota too cheap to throw away the thousands of cheap ass cameras they bought in China at heavy discount back in 2003. This is the only reason why I assume a 2022 TRD Pro costing almost a whooping 60k comes with a low res pixelated back up camera.

I was in the same position and decided on the 4Runner instead of GX460. The 4Runner MPG is comparable to any V6 vehicle and it takes regular gas instead of premium gas. The GX460 is a V8 and loves to drink premium gas. I am cheap so GX460 will not suit my budget.
