Great when it's working, but the rule I follow is that if it indicates a car in your blind spot, there's probably one there, but if it doesn't indicate one, there still may be one there. In other words, don't rely solely on the BSM. Here's a tip: water ingress behind the rear quarter panels is often the cause of the "Check BSM System" message. Mine often goes out after a car wash, but always comes back eventually. I finally got smart and applied some masking tape over the seams between the rear fender and the rear bumper cover before washing. Problem solved!

You are actually right. I have a 2016 Hyundai sonata with blind spot detection. I got the check BSD system but when I took it to the car wash it went away. I'm not sure if I can fix mine since it is salvaged due to a rear end. So on the outside it looks perfect but water is probably leaking in that area where the sensor is.

Give us the chime. Just the side mirror light isn't enough Toyota.

The indicator definitely isn't enough. My brain filters out the indicator light, a chime would actually increase safety.

toyota should have put this option on all trim levels of there cars starting since 2017 toyotas with back up cameras. Hyundai has standard cross traffic and bsm even on the lower trim.

How hard is that to add chime and add the light indication to inner side so it’s more visible like Subaru!

My Tacoma is a 2005 4 whl dr dbl cab w/o all those fancy gimmicks but it is the most dependable well built vehicle I have owned. It is now 15 yrs old and still looks new, runs smoothly and comfortable. The only items I have had to replace are right front wheel bearings, a high beam and a new battery after 7 years of perfect service. I run AT3 Cooper tires which are great for the hills around the Finger Lakes region in winter or summer. I don't think you can go wrong with a Toyota. I wouldn't want to get a new one. I love the one I have.

Glad they moved the BSM switch to the dashboard. On my 2015 it was under the right edge of the dash facing the floor. Hopefully they have added notifications on the dash when any of these are not working, for various reasons, like Subaru does.

I’m so disappointed. I have 3018 Toyota and it beeps to warn driver that are going to hit car charging lanes. Why does the backup cross traffic no long warn of pedestrians only cars??? Those features were life savers in my 2018. Now I can’t buy a new car. Why do they no longer have parking assist?

Sounds wonderful but I am not sure that it is obligatory to adjust side mirrors to cover an area that is already covered by the internal central rear view mirror so that you have a large blind spot.

my bsm is erratic, sometimes alerting when no vehicles are present and not alerting when vehicles are there

That would be fine if driver and front passenger doors had huge windows like back in the 60's. Unfortunately, nowadays the windows are small. The cars I look at most all have a big pillar which sits right behind the driver's head. This creates a big ole blind spot. I will not buy a new car that doesn't have BSM.

@@packerbacker69 actually I watched a video on YT that was like "you don't have blind spots" or something like that and it helped me set up my mirrors so that I can see my "blind spots". I'm not sure if it completely eliminates blind spots but it definitely helps w/ cars without BSM systems. But yeah, having a car w/ BSM is most likely the safest option.

How come this feature is not on the Toyota Corolla? It should be, after all the Civic has. Jut because the Corolla is smaller doesn't mean it doesn't get features of the bigger car

Davin Peterson the civic actually doesn’t have a “blind spot monitor” atleast in the us. The civic has a lane watch camera but is kind of distracting since you have to look at a screen to see if a car is in blind spot. And now the new corolla offers blind spot monitor

This is not part of TSS-P because the Corolla doesn't have Blind Sport, but it does have TSS-P

Blind spots are only for idiots, the only use of a blindspot detection if yoy aren't careful is if a car at night does not turn on their Headlights and so you end up driving blind. Other wise, set your mirrors so that you can barely see your car on the inner frame of both mirriors

Bought a new 2016 Toyota Corolla a year ago . Have had many problems / issues that were not able to be taken care of . Have wasted many days / time / effort to correct the issues . I have many health issues and don't need to get a runaround ! Actually I have bought two cars at the dealership in the last year . Would never own another Toyota 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
