Hello, you had mentioned in the video that you don't recommend updating unless driven by a TSB. Why do recommend not updating a toyota unless its TSB driven? And thank you for providing this clear instructional video!

Because it's working just fine with the current calibration. Tsb's are for basically the problem child's and tsb's only need to be performed when that vehicle is showing those symptoms and has been diagnosed with that issue (as provided in the tsb). It also follows the saying if it ain't broke don't fix it. I hope the information I provided you with helps.

Hello with techstream V18 I can not update my ECU on a 2021 toyota tundra. When I scan ECU ,the report tells me that there is no update and in the line ECT and Engine it is indicated status of the monitor: "not finished". Can you help me? Thank you.

Yes! The Maxiflash elite J2534 is the most versatile non OEM J-Box as I have personally used it on 70-90% of all auto manufacturers and I haven't run into any issue with it at all.

Excellent tutorial. Very simple to follow along. After I reprogrammed the ecu with the new calibration ID, I got the "U### lost transmission..." permanent code. Permanent codes are very stubborn to clear. Now I'm stuck with this new permanent code and my previous P0102 mass airflow input permanent code. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi, The video is short and very straight to the point. I have a few questions. Can I use a battery charger 12v 24v maintainer charge for the update? How do I download the techstream on my computer? Is it a must that I plug the laptop into the battery maintainer? Since I will likely use a battery charger 12v 24v which I cannot plug a computer on? Thank you.

There is not a blanket answer, a lot of the time a used PCM can be used depending on the actual model and year. Some used PCM's only require VIN to be changed with a scan tool, others require VIN change and key register functions. Some require more than that and less, it is a case by case basis.

I doubt it. My old car wasn't a Toyota but that particular function I think they make it pretty hard to mess with since people can steal cars by replacing immobilizer. But Toyota may be easier. Did you get it already fixed? Could you?

I have the symptom from T-SB-0087-09 with a brief intake phaser noise on cold start up, and within the tsb it states : Software version 4.00.017 or later is required. Can this be done prior to the repair needed in the tsb or only after the repair? The repair is to replace the intake cam gear assembly. Only asking because I'm waiting on parts but have a cardaq 3 plus and was wondering if the calibration can be done prior.

Hello Keith I really need help on this please... 2009 GS350 from an auction with “NO KEY”. I reset (via techstream) the car immobilizer due to “all key lost situation”... All reset process was perfect and done... (all dash light up as it is supposed to act when you reset the immobilizer to add a new key) but at the moment to register a new smart key code fob, I had a car battery issue loosing power and was not able to add the new key. I disconnected the battery to recharge and then I put it back later to continue the process, but this time the dash is not coming ON, when I push the start button nothing happens, only the door light is on on the dash but nothing else. I attempted to reset the immobilizer again but keeps failing after reset code is entered. The security light keeps flashing all the time... I disconnected all horns previously. Work done: Check all fuses in the 5 places in the car and all are ok... not blown fuses at all. The big fusible link is also intact, not blown. Immobilizer module was replaced (Anti Theft Locking Immobilizer Control Module Manufacture Part Number : 89784-30011) but nothing changes... red security light keeps blinking all the time. PUSH BUTTON “Engine STAR STOP” lights up when driver door is open but the amber light is not ON... nothing happens when I depress the pedal brake... no green or amber light. Inside lights works ok and seats have power, turning the metal key on drivers door lock and unlock the doors and also open all windows and sunroof when hold it to the open position. What other test or check I need to perform? Could be a main ECU issue? Thanks for your help!

That is not a OE supported procedure, and has to do with the safety system. I will never show anyone how to do that, and will absolutely suggest you follow the OE procedure of module replacement.

Can you delete DTC code permanently so it wont pop up ever? For example; catayltic converter code delete.

1. That is not possible with any factory tooling or aftermarket scan tool as it is a violation of federal law and emissions tampering, peruse on over to the EPA website to see their new initiative to imprison anyone doing this. 2. There may be aftermarket tuning software that does this, see number 1 for further explanation.

Not a single manufacture offers this on any car. It is either a safety system, emissions system, or other system the manufacture advertised that vehicle with. When you remove even an optional component, you may be ok, but the next owner can not, thus the vehicle is sold or then owned by someone who may have looked up what that car came with and was then deceived. Its bad for the brands image at best.

I have been researching for weeks, my 06 is250 will shift up to 4th gear, but not beyond in d & s. Did diagnosis, changed all PCS. And now I get a code for PCS A, which pressure control solinoid A is that? And it's all brand new, it still can shift up to 4th, but not beyond. Does the PCM or TCM need to be recalibrated/reprogrammed?2

@@L1Training it's been diagnosed, the trouble shoot is a Pressure Control Solinoid A, with the SL1, whicht the clutch control #1 that controls gear 1 2 3 4, but my care shift up to 4th gear and 5 and 6 when SLT, Control Solinoid B controls 5 and 6. I'm going out if my mind

Sure, buy a J2534 device, a programming specific battery maintainer, spend a few hours setting up a laptop, and buy the $65 2 day subscription and have at it.

@@L1Training thank you for your answer! btw, can I set the active test parameters to be the real ones used by the car? for instance, there are a couple of active tests that we can apply to the engine while running (e.g. make it run more lean by reducing the % of fuel injection...) can I actually save those values to the ecu? because the active test is... only a test.
