@@blueplanet1048 the only way I buy a new vehicle as if it was 20 K, I’m not going to pay over 400 bucks a month for a truck when I pay zero right now since I own mine lol. But if it was 20 K and I could put 2K down and pay between three and $400, that’s a different story

Basically the same concept as my 1st gen 4Runner. The rear roof was removable to expose the rear seats and open cargo area with a built in roll bar.

I freaking love it! We are missing an old style rav4 or Suzuki samurai, the fun, surfer style cruisers that can be enjoyed top open and wind in your hair that aren’t meant to be rock crawlers. Well done!! That said, iihs would have a heyday with that configuration 😂 Still we need that kind of thinking!

Its based on a Rav4, no 4X4. Itll be AWD at best, but based on a FWD crossover platform, not a true truck frame.

If they did the stout based off it would be nice but with extended cab. Maybe a increased towing with better trans cooler, and radiator.

No, that was a body on frame. This is unibody, nowhere near as capable when it comes to actual truck work like towing or off roading.

@@sofloflowhe was referring more to the cabin layout and truck bed since the 1st gen 4rs were just converted hiluxes with a camper top essentially.

I ain't mad at it. Just test drove a friends RAV-4 Prime, and the thing was ZIPPY. So yeah, I'd love a Ute version of it

The students made a beach mobile. Add two racks in the short bed for two surfboards poking out like tail fins, and it is "Surf's up!".

nice. reminds me of the blazers and broncos of the late '80's/early '90's. I bet the toyota boys set it up to come off easier then what we had to go thru back then.

Isn’t that basically what the original 4runner was? They should definitely go back to that concept, just not with the RAV4 which would be a bit too small.

Here in Australia i can tell you we would hate it, a normal single cab pick up with tub rear would be interesting however with all elecctric or hybrid

The original was body on frame & actually capable at towing and off road. This is a car on stilts with a trunk that gets wet.

cool concept, but imagine the backseats folding forward flush with the pickup bed! btw, that space behind the backseats does *not* qualify as a "pick up bed/pickup truck" lol. the convertible section occupies too much actual valuable pickup truck space, unless it's easily convertible into cargo space. js

Calling it a pickup truck is a stretch! The bed is like 2 feet long? They should have done the whole length and eliminated the rear seats which makes no sense, unless you drive indoors!

I love that mustard gold color! They’ve completely muted all the colors offered for the rav4. Ruby flare pearl or Calvary blue are the most “exciting” paints you’re going to get in the US now. We need something fun like that!

If Toyota sold a RAV 4 all wheel drive hybrid ute in Australia even with a light payload max 750kg they would be flying out the door especially at 5.5L per 100km fuel consumption. Would have to be 4door or space cab though.

my friend did the same thing 50 years ago, he took a 1964 Buick and cut off the roof and trunk and called it a pickup, i'm guessing he now works for toyota
