It Goes to show that Japan Made cars are just built better PERIOD! The good thing with Toyota is they quickly address things unlike the big 3.

OCS sensor is a problem in Mercedes as well. Mercedes uses a contact mat to measure weight. The mat is easy to break and very expensive to replace. Older Fords use air bladder which is very durable. Either bladder holds air or it does not. Seats are easy to take apart and bladder is easy to replace.

Mercedes is pure garbage so this is expected.

Good to know. But Toyota and Lexus have used this sensor for quite some time. I think it's just a production issue during covid causing this recall.

@@lsft Early Mercedes cushions had impossible to release upholstery clips which is why when the sensor went bad, Mercedes would sell the complete cushion only. Later Mercedes clips were better and the the OCS itself was placed under the foam instead of on top of foam. Regardless, never put your knee on a Mercedes cushion.

I called to find if they had the parts in yet. neither dealer could answer that?? Trying to find out if they had the parts for the recall to fix it was like pulling teeth. One told me they don't order the parts until y ou make an appointment ? What? Are you kidding? Why is that on the customer? They should have ordered the parts and then notify. me. That was months ago. What gives?

My understanding is they have parts for every VIN and the dealership orders it when you book an appointment because they don't know which dealership you will go to.

What a crock, its safety so get the parts available. Should make no difference which dealership you go to
