In this Day and age and prices for vehicles there is absolutely zero excuses for a vehicle to not have remote start from the key fob the last forever.

This would have helped me so much if I would’ve come across your info a year ago. I have a 2019 RAV4. The remote app was problematic for me for quite a while. I would try and try on the coldest mornings to start my car through the app and it never would start. I had it in the dealer three times. The last time they thought they fixed it but after a couple days it quit working again. I didn’t do anything with it for a month or so and then thought I would try it again. I guess there was an update because I could not believe it started my car. Now it won’t lock it with the app. It says request could not be completed contact the dealer. My main reason for wanting the remote connect was to start my car. If I had only known that I could’ve started it with my key fob. I searched so many times to get help on the situation. Not sure how I missed your videos. I like how the app shows the tire pressure. Is there anyway to see your pressure in the car? I see the symbol when they are low or high in the car but don’t see the numbers of each tire. I am so glad I found you. I’m still finding out stuff my car does after 3 years. Now I know where to come for info if I need it. Thank you, thank you.

On the 2021 Sienna XSE spec sheet it says, "Short Range Key Fob Remote Start (requires active DCM)" So does that mean it would be up to 10years (remote start) but you HAVE TO activate the app access to use it? It's a bit confusing.

It’s weird my 21 Camry SE hybrid came with the remote connect function disabled on the app, but the remote start function works just fine with the fob (I’m not complaining though since it has some remote start functionality).

I would like to know why the security settings make you type in a authentication code every 12 hours even though you have face ID on and you have it marked to keep you signed in to the remote app. when you are trying to get in your car late at night and you have to stand there and get an authentication code then this puts you in danger because your trying to start car before you get there but you have to sign in every 12 hours so the app does no good. Also, how many feet away can you be and still be able to start your car with the car remote, not the app? I have called several times to remote connect and they just say it is a "known" problem and they are working on it. This app is the worst I have ever seen. Maybe you can help me understand!

I have a 2019 RAV4 limited with remote connect and it has been working fine up until a few weeks ago. The was an app update and after that it stopped working. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and nothing. I called Toyota and spoke with three different reps and no one could help me. I then went back to the dealership and they worked on it for over an hour and they couldn’t help me. Have you come across any one else with this problem and a possible solution. I’m just beside myself. The app works on my iPad but not on my phone. I went so far as to purchase a new phone and still no good. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What is the point of starting your car with the remote control and when you open the doors to enter into the vehicle the engine turns off then you will have to turn it on again

Great info Steven. The vehicle you demonstrated with is my exact model: platinum blueprint with glazed caramel. I still don't fully understand why the remote connect subscription needs to be active to start the vehicle from a key fob. You would think that the RF signal mechanism which locks/unlocks the car could also start it. Go figure...

I had just purchased a 2021 toyota camry, and the remote start not working. I tried with my key fob 2 click and one hold for 10 seconds and it's not working.

New vehicles are at the price point where I could have a 70's Dodge van resto-modded, and not have all the electronic garbage / forced subscriptions, AND all the aftermarket goodies I want.

Why the holy hell would they not just install it on the fob permanently. If I go to sell this car through private sale.. I shouldn’t have to mess around with transferring an app service or explaining to the new buyer that it used to have remote start but doesn’t anymore. This is a feature that EVERYONE uses almost every day. It’s a feature they have to get right. And they’re acting like they have no idea what they’re doing.

Go off if you don't have the key with you and tey to move the gear shift...... I make no sense have remote start and restart the car when you get inside....
