Everyone believes that Toyota's are reliable cars that are a good value buy, but sometimes they miss the boat. These are the worst Toyota cars you can buy today (my opinion of course) and I'm going to show you why they're so bad. You won't believe the cars I choose and how bad some of the problems are for these Toyota vehicles.

My wife's RAV 4 has 135 000 kms and has needed new water pump, new battery and an AC condenser in 8 years. The water pump and battery were just replaced weeks ago. Overall it is pretty good. I changed the battery myself. Got one from Costco.

I have had my vehicle since new. I purchased it in September 1996 with only 11 miles on the odometer. She was so young and inexperienced then. Over the decades, I have changed multiple sets of tyres, about six batteries, four sets of brakes, replaced the springs and shock absorbers, upgraded the headlights, changed the ignition switch, and that is all, until last year when the wiring under the bonnet ignited into flames. Many said to scrap my dear Stargazer. After 27 years, she is so much more than just a machine to me. She has been with me through things no human was there for me. I could have retired her after so many years of service and coud have easily bought a new vehicle using cash. But, it was my time to say thank you to my dear old friend of 27 years. I rented an economy car and ordered parts, went to special salvage yards, disassembled all the burnt parts and wiring, gutted the interior, and went to work every night, after work. I allowed myself four hours of sleep a night and dedicated the rest of my time at work with my dear Stargazer. I did all the work myself, so they have been affordable repairs. The RMS Stargazer now has 446.500 miles on the odometer, has a new bonnet, front fenders, new stainless steel bumper, new LED headlights, an aftermarket stainless steel grill, new, large, off road tyres, many new engine parts, all new wiring, fresh, bright yellow paint, a new top and doors, new radiator, used replacement interior, new dashboard and instrument panel, and more. After all, how else do you say thanks to an old friend that has been there for 28 years?

Wow surprising information. I have been lucky with Toyota's (2000 Solara, 2022 Camry, and 2008 4Runner) all of which have performed flawlessly. I'm into over 15.5 years with my 4Runner and everything still looks and works like new.

If something has the term, "eco, green," avoid it! If something is advertised as prioritising the environment, avoid that as well. Those things do not help the environment in the slightest. Often, they are far worse for the environment, like a four cylinder, turbo charged engine, or continuously variable transmission. You have often heard, "If it is not broken, do not fix it." Well, there are those that want to, "fix," things that have proven themselves far more reliable than any of the alternatives coming out. The results speak for themselves.

@@FixMyBleep The Bronco is the same as what you mentioned. You see a nice looking, rather solid looking, true SUV, from the outside. But under the hood, you get a twin turbo charged 2.0 or 2.2 both four cylinder engines. It is not bad enough that the engines are grenates eating to explode, they have a plastic oil pan, plastic timing cover, plastic valve cover, and instead of all rubber hoses, some have hard plastic tubes. Someone brought one in to have an oil leak fixed. The pile of junk only had 40,000 miles. That is when I discovered the nightmare engine with so much plastic where it should never be. I studied up on them and found even worse. Some models have an inline, 3 cylinder model, also. Their interiors are rather sporty looking. But looks mean nothing if the engine are garbage. I have never been so thankful for my old fossil, of an automobile, after looking into lots of modern vehicles. Almost all of them are junk. The few that are not are still not as good as the prior model. We live in the time of garbage vehicles and the oldest public fleet in history. Not many want to buy the ugly modern abominations.

I really wanted to love the new Toyota's and Lexus but when they went with 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder w/turbos or hybrids that has ruined much of it. I do hot think any vehicle would make 444.000 miles on the odometer without extensive repairs made to it. Mine had very little done at that mileage. My first major repair came last year, after 27 years of service to me. I saved her and she is still with me today. I could have bought a new vehicle, in cash, to replace my dear RMS Stargazer. But, there is so much more to my dear Stargazer than just a machine. I did all the work myself and have no regrets putting so much money and time into my beloved Stargazer, last year. But, how else can I say thank you to the one that has been there for me when nobody else was there? If I bought a new 2023 vehicle last year, it would be just an appliance, a transport, an over-engineered, weak, extremely ugly, very expensive, poorly put together eyesore. Repairing my dear Stargazer was far cheaper and my friend stays with me. I made the right decision.

Funny thing is there was a recall for the torque converter on the 2013-15 models but not 2016 despite the technician telling me that he sees that same issue very often on the 2016 and up as well. Yes, modern Toyotas are getting more expensive to repair. Our family has been a BMW users in the past 19 years from E90 E70 to F30 and F15 as of today. We acquired Toyota RAV4 recently for heavy daily use, as we are asking the service department how much are the parts like replacement LED headlights $1395/piece. AGM battery incl installation $495. Winter tire set $1500. Key fob replacement $695 incl programming. Brake service fluid, rotors, pads. $1700. Centre console screen $2,399 not including diagnostics. Modern cars are have some “German” tech now like the Toyotas A25 engine on Rav4 has a continuous motor that controls the variable timing, has and electronic water pump and eight injectors on a 4 cylinder engines. 😅

That Camry engine was used in the Scion XB, too. Most of the Scion line used older tech so you would think it was reliable and 'bulletproof', this was one failure in that small-car lineup they had for a few years. Another was back in the 1980s, the Tercel. Lots of reports of engine failures due to oil burning. I had an '82 Tercel hatchback, it ran for 160K miles before it started burning oil but it still ran great as my 'daily driver'. At that point it would not pass California's emission standards anymore so I traded it in.

I drove a Crown with a 5M-E and a blown gasket. After some research, the M series engine was notoriously easy to blow head gaskets. However that Crown kept going and going. The key word to Toyota’s reliability is the Japanese word Kaizen which means continuous improvement, this includes facing the problem head on, unlike some makers that play ostrich to their problems.

Exactly right, my family, grandparents, parents and kids have owned ordinary Toyotas ie corollas, Rav-4 etc since 1969! Not one engine issue, not one gearbox issue, no clutch replacements on manuals, no major suspension issues( a few replacement bushings) etc. Only really minor stuff like an erratic electric window on one car). These cars have saved us many 10's of thousands of dollars over the years.

CVTs, Subaru engine (GR86), Supra turbo engines (from Big Money Worries no less) and now turbos.... But they make THE BEST Hybrids (when combined normally aspirated engines) and you could still buy a normally aspirated 2.5L 4 cylinder RAV4 with an 8-speed auto that WILL outlast 99% of other brands/models on the roads, even if it is more boring than the turbo/cvt Honda CRV....Heck a Mazda CX-5 with a 2.5L 4 cyl / 6-speed auto is also a top pick nowadays, offering a combination of the best of the Honda and Toyota, but nothing is perfect, and it lacks space. Well, you mention a 3rd Gen (2006-2012) 2007 RAV4 but you are showing and pointing to a 4th Gen RAV4 which didn't have these issues. Unfortunately the engine in the RAV4, as well as the Camry and Corolla was the 2AZ-FE 2.4L I-4 and it had oil burning issues due to a poor design of the low tension oil ring trying to get better MPG. This was made worse by recommending a longer oil change interval which caused carbon build up on the piston rings and the engines burning oil. I will give Toyota credit though, they extended the warranties on these engines and agreed to fix them with newer parts that were redesigned and solved the oil burning problem. I do know of people that never had these issues because they used better quality synthetic oil and changed it more often around 5k miles or 12 months. In 2009 though the RAV4 got the newer 2AR-FE 2.5L I-4 and it was a very reliable engine with no issues over the many years it was used in many different Toyotas. And on your picture you are pointing to a 2ZR-FE in a 11th Gen Corolla which was an excellent engine and known to be pretty bulletproof. Too many cars from most manufacturers that had oil burning issues are due to oil change intervals that are too long and owners that don't do maintenance well enough as it is.

I bought a 2007 new Toyota rav4 base model on December 2006. Year later, it had a steering recall. Adter the recall, years later, when making a turn, the steering had noise, paid about $900 to fix it, then after few years, the noise came again, this time, paid more than $2000 to fix the issue. So. Just for the steering issue, i paid about $3000. Very disappointed at Toyota car quality.

@@thrash123ful Ok. Burning oil doesn't mean a head gasket issue, it's probably just worn-out piston rings (allowing oil past the rings.... getting burned off....then out your exhaust). If u do get a catalytic code, there's specific cleaners u add to the fuel 👍

Let me add something Toyota did that makes them stand out over the competition they extended warranties and had customer care programs that fixed the oil consumption in the effected camries and the Tacomas with rust issue were also covered. They replaced entire frames in some cases. Yeah they were bad designs, but they took care of the customer unlike many other auto makers that play hush, hush sweep it under the table politics and making customers pay for it.

I am glad you are talking about some of the Toyota's shenanigans. Everyone is raving mad about Toyota.OMG the kings of reliability. If Toyota releases a turd plenty of ppl will come running willing to pay over MSRP just because they are reliable. As much as the statistics show us they are indeed reliable, meaning they have less issues than the average in the industry many people are not aware of some of the Toyota failures, recalls and flat out lies. The problems you mentioned are some but there are more, the acceleration issue few years back. the airbags issue few years back their rigged emissions scandal etc. Worst is that like any other greedy corporation they tried burying everything under and eventually acknowledged it and issued a formal apology. I am not a Toyota hater, I never owned one simply because I think they do not fit my taste or lifestyle and frankly (no offense to anyone) they are boring. I am simply shocked how this hype is being blown out of proportion.
@wysetech2000
@wysetech2000 9 күн бұрын
Toyota has never had a rigged emission scandal. That was VW. The acceleration issue was recalled but most of the issue was caused by the floor mat getting stuck under the gas pedal. Most every brand used Takata airbags that have been recalled. Excessive oil use was taken care of by Toyota warranty that has the pistons and rings replaced free of charge. If you're looking for perfection you will NEVER find it.

@@wysetech2000 Thank you for pointing some things out sir. I am guessing you own or owned Toyotas at one point and you are a loyal fan. I sincerely wish you all the best and long lasting to your car(s) (not sarcastically) We all have our brands that we love and swear by. The purpose of this video and of my comments is simply to raise awareness to a few facts, one of them being not to trust companies blindly on account of "being reliable" Spoiler alert, they don't have your best interest at heart but rather trying to sell you their products.Sometimes you as the consumer being the guinea pig of their new shiny tech. All I'm trying to say is that Toyota as reliable as they may seem they do/did have their share of issues and the history showed us how poorly they handled their problems.I couldn't care less about Toyota much so I would try to convince anyone they are bad(which is not true).If you are happy with yours well... enjoy it. I simply think the Toyota "legendary" reliability" is simply overhyped to death that's all. As far as the issues I and you mentioned you can simply search for them online everything is public information

@@axx8326 First, I don't own a Toyota but my daughter owns a 2021 Corolla Hybrid. With almost 100.000 Kl. (60.000Miles) on it without one single problem. It's her second Toyota. Only regular service. Her old 2017 Corolla was trouble free as well accept for a new battery and front brake replacement. I was a technician for over 50 years and every brand has problems. Anything man made is prone to break down. My son has a 2022 Honda that's also been a great car. Car manufactures and dealers have every trick in the book. They always have and always will. Today everything is so expensive, we demand perfection, and some are closer than others, but cars today have so many electronics onboard, and most don't make their own components so something is going to give up sooner than predicted. Factory workers have been screwed since Covid. None of them give a damn any longer. There is NO pride in anything today and everyone is in a bad mood. Welcome to 2024.

I am from Russia In Huntsville Alabama on business for a couple months (as usual every year) with a Engineer Friend from Japan who works at the Huntsville Alabama Toyota Engine Department who SUCCESSFULLY tested the V8 engines that usually got 500,000 miles NP..... Now they test the Twin turbo v6 with SO MANY PROBLEMS that he can't believe that Toyota is even doing this. They have so many problems they are requiring a complete rebuild between 25 - 50,000 Tested. They are JUNK ---- he would never purchase a twin turbo even built from Toyota. I personally have a Sequoia V8 with 447,000 miles on the same transmission and NOTHING HAS EVER FAILED ON MY V8.. JUST TO TELL YOU MIGHT WANT TO THINK TWICE PURCHASING A VEHICLE WITH THAT V6 TWIN TURBO
