My 2007 (first gen) Toyota Sequoia is one of my favorite vehicle purchases. It's budget-friendly enough for me to not stress about it too much in the day to day, but nice enough to feel a good sense of pride driving and modding it. I decided to add a few, easy mods to the first gen Sequoia like lift, wheels, tires, and a rack. In this video I go through the 2007 Toyota Sequoia Overland mods, and show you what I think a great, minimal, relatively budget-friendly build looks like.

These two Sequoia videos are perfect timing. I found a 2005 local to me with 135K miles. They are asking $13K which I don’t want to pay, but they did replace the timing belt, water pump, etc so that does have value. I want something bigger than my 4R to sleep and camp in. I’m checking it out tomorrow and hoping it works out so I can have no car payment for first time in 27 years.

Just pick it up and it's a refresh 1st gen. You won't find a Toyota 4x4 with that mileage for that price.

I love that the sequoia had been seeing a lot of love lately with the off-road community. I have been running the same setup in front for a few years now and still love it. I actually just ordered the same setup for my 05 tundra ad well. I removed the rear sway bar overall, and i noticed a big difference on the trails compared to when I ran them with it on. Not a big difference noticed with the daily drive Keep up the sequoia content 🤙🏼🤙🏼 that prinsu rack is 🔥

Great stuff! I also used 1stgenoffroad for all the suspension upgrades to my 06 Tundra. These 1st gens are in that sweet spot between a Tacoma and newer Tundra whale.

Just got an '05 with 140k miles on it at a fantastic price. TR5 as well along with a lot of the upgraded interior that yours has. It kind of fell into my lap and so glad you're doing these videos on this rig. Trying to figure out what I want to do with this going forward.

Great choices on the suspension height and tire size etc. Still love my 2005 Limited. 215,000 miles. NO issues and recently did all the expensive 100k tune-up stuff and timing belt. Good for another 100k! It grew up in the heat and sun of the southwest so it just now got sun rash on the hood and roof above the windshield. Recently had the rest of it detailed so all I need to do is find a auto pain shop that wont charge me an arm and a leg to re-paint the top and hood. Or maybe go with a wrap? The leather seats of both front seats need attention too. Just swapped out the headlights with all new lenses and LED bulbs. Got tired of trying to get the old ones clear only for it it return. I have a new weather-strip for the rear gate that I need to put in. Also need to update the stereo head unit etc. Love the JBL system but no bluetooth is unfortunate. ALSO, for all of you that have front door panel speakers that are going out don't believe for a minute you need to replace them entirely with something else that you need to do all sorts of retro fitting for. Unnecessary. I have an audio business. All ya gotta do is replace the dried out surrounds on those JBL drivers.

I feel you man. I went from a 5th gen 4runner to a 4th gen v8 4runner(downsizing debt). I cant put my finger on it either. I like my 4th gen more. less technology, slightly smaller, cosmetic wear from being a 19 year old vehicle but, its got character. super fun era for toyota.

When working on the rear suspension, especially the shocks, removing the spare tire will give you enough room to sit down under the car when removing the top nuts.

Just an FYI, I recommend extending the rear bumpstops with those shocks because of how long they are. I didn't and my shocks leak pretty bad now

I had this gen sequoia (it was very similar to this one, white 4wd) until I hit a deer on the way home from a camping trip. Bashed in the driver side front pretty good but the truck got me home (4 hours) and then the insurance totaled it (first time I got more from an insurance pay out than I paid for the vehicle). I now own a 100 series, and if I’m honest, I may like the sequoia better 🤫. The room and the comfort just seems a bit more to my liking. I don’t do any hardcore off-roading so that may make a difference. I like them both a lot, just my 2 cents.

These first gen sequoias are near early GX460 prices. The space is nice but you get so much more on a Lexus. Can’t wait for these to get back in the 5-8k range 😀

You’re going to be very impressed and surprised I think. Never underestimate this first gen sequoia. The second gen isn’t even as capable as this first gen. Even tho it’s the sr5 it still extremely capable. I ride with land cruiser 100-300 series. I have the limited 07 and it’s amazing. I know it’s blasphemy to say it’s like a land cruiser but it’s honestly an American made 100 series with more room. Just saying.’and I never even have to use my locker the traction control and limited slip is so great.

If you’re not doing 5 tire rotations, pick up a mostly used tire to use on your spare, it will fit fine, if you do 5 tire rotations, it will fit better soon.

seems like a good alternative to lx and landcruiser for one who is on budget. These things are between 5k to 18. About 12k can get you a really good one

I have an '03 with 350k on it- doesn't burn oil yet but was contemplating whether it's still worth spending on upgrades...the only thing I don't like about the exterior look is that the front looks like an old Explorer, I added a nice hood shield and it's better

2005 V8 4runner owner here. i really like my truck unfortunately when i bought my truck in 2020 i didn't get one in 4wd. now these older toyota suv's are a lot harder to find in 4wd. a lexus 470 maybe my solution later on when things cool off.

Just make sure the frame is replaced by Toyota. I had one on the east coast and frame rusted. There’s a recall on them.

It's a plug to externally charge / maintain the battery. Since I have a bunch of vehicles and mainly drive the Tundra, the rest need a little battery maintenance here and there.

Pretty much the same concept I had for my 2018 Tacoma, minus the aftermarket wheels, 2” lift, and aftermarket roof rack😂 But seriously, similar in concept and near stock Toyotas can do a lot! So, is the Sequoia dubbed the Puke Cruiser??🐶😂

His 80 series poop brown land cruiser should be the real poop cruiser. My favorite rig of his and one of my favorites ever. That truck is perfection. All his trucks are. His tacoma is my favorite tacoma I’ve ever seen and his land cruisers are so classy and awesome and his tundra is a great daily driver and all around truck. And this sequoia was done just right too for what he was going for. Mike has great taste in trucks and mods
