I own 2024 tacoma with manual transmission and it shifts smooth as silk. Plenty of power. Also tacoma handles and turns very tight & solid . By far the best manual transmission i have ever driven.

Thank You! My husband and I never had any intention of trading off our 2021 SR automatic, but last time we had it serviced, a new 2024 manual off road GREY TACO was at the dealership and we drove it just while we were waiting 'for kicks'! Ha!!! We're waiting for OUR Supersonic Red Off Road to arrive any day...we're both 'manual trans truckees', and we ONLY drive RED!! We've settled for autos over the years, our last manual a Subaru Forester - so hard to find manuals - Can't Wait! This video really helped! And, by the way, we're retired farmers, both turning 75 this September. 😊GOTACO...

Nice video. I plan to buy a manual transmission Tacoma within the next 6 to 12 months. I drove a lot of stick-shift vehicles between 1975 and 2003 but haven't owned a manual in 20 years. Really looking forward to it! But, I am not "too proud" to admit that automated rev matching on down-shifts might be a really nice feature. I really like your comments about rev hang -- matches what I had figured out from other channels that if we just shift slowly it should be smooth.

I have a 2003 Tundra base MT. 328k miles on her. I also have a 2020 TRD OR in MT as well. I have to save that I love the transmission on the Tundra much better. I find the clutch is much more responsive, but it is harder for an inexperienced driver to drive. I have 0-2” of roll back on a steep uphill incline, 2-6” on the Tacoma. Still love both trucks. I would kill to have a 5.7 MT Tundra.

Thanks Toyota Canada…Is it a comfortable unit to drive for a 5’4 person? Wondering on the clutch length and also if the shifter is in a comfortable reach? Nice video! I just got a 3rd gen with a manual and you describe the rev hang perfectly. I’m sad to see that it is carrying into the 4th gen. I’ve gotten used to driving with it but getting up to speed fast reminds me of the flaw. I’m planning on getting the OTT tune soon. I’ve heard a lot of reviews saying that it helps with rev hang. Maybe they will come out with a tune for the new gen tacomas too

Do you feel like the lower redline due to NVH was justified by Toyota? It's a really interesting choice how they made it redline nearly 1000rpm lower...the rev hang and the odd low redline can be addressed with tuning most likely. Just curious if you feel their reasoning of vibration was justified

Great question. In my view it actually can extend the life utilizing things like the rev match down shift. Lots of folks don’t know how to properly rev match as they go down the gears so taking that complexity out can increase life.
