When I bought my 2017 TRD new I had the dealer add a tonneau cover. They installed a Extang 2.0 Solid Fold, which was expensive and high quality. The cover is OK, but after seeing the OEM one, I would rather have the Toyota version.

I found one on Craigslist locally for $575 so there are some good deals on used ones or you could also go with a non-OEM cover. There seem to be several comparable products out there that are more reasonably priced.

@Allan J I've got the Extang on my 17 TRD and wish I had the Toyota one instead.

I think I'm going to get a retractable cover so I can open it when I have a bed rack installed. Otherwise I'd go OEM again.

I get frost on the outside but none on the inside. Its completely dry... what you're seeing might be dirt.

^^^ Came here to add this. On my 2017 the little key in the fob opens my tailgate.

Do the Pop and Lock mod and your fob will lock and unlock the tailgate, no need for the key

Yes, I put a crack in my cover with handlebars as well. I don't have a link to the OEM cover but I regularly see these pretty cheap on Craigslist. I'd keep an eye out there for a replacement.

I read somewhere and tried it on mine, you can use a hand held propane torch or heat gun and gently, carefully, heat the faded surface and the color will come back. Use constant, even, sweeping motions back and forth.

This cover is from Toyota. I'd check with your dealer or keep your eye on Craigslist for a used one. I've seen some good deals there.

There shouldn't be any play or ability to adjust it. Have you tried removing the whole cover and reinstalling to make sure its set correctly?

There's not much to install. It basically just pops into place and there is a single screw as a safety

Pretty sure you can buy them from Toyota pre-cut as well, but they'll cost a fortune. I did it with an exacto knife, sanded down any rough spots with a dremmel... that was the only hard part of the install. You can also use a dremmel to cut the notches, which would be a lot quicker, but I feel like you have a lot more control doing it with a knife. Especially when cutting out the corners of each notch. Just take your time scoring the plastic, it's semi-soft so it doesn't take a ton of effort. The spots that need to be cut out are pre-marked on the underside of the rail caps. If you find one of these on the used market, ask the seller if they'd swap their bed rail caps with yours (assuming they're still in good condition) to make the install super easy.

$1465 before tax here in BC as of December 2020 for the 6ft box version, from the dealership. Try and find one used if you can, just make sure it comes with all the hardware and everything.

I can only speak from experience with this. Perhaps other viewers have some recommendations. I will say one downside to this cover is that it is heavy.

Mike C I worded that wrong. I bought my 2020 Toyota Tacoma off road 2 weeks ago. Didn’t come with cover. The dealership ordered me the cover last week. Thursday I’m going to dealership to have it put on. The cover I get from dealership is OEM right? Says Tacoma on it?

Its pretty much always on so I don't have enough test data to give you any feedback on this.

Truck tonneau bed covers will only give noticeable 1-2mpg savings at highway speeds. noticeable around 65mph, but no gas or handling advantage at regular road 40mph speeds

Rolando Dizon I have one on my 2016 and I'm not a fan of it, it's to heavy and not a true tri-fold and those little plastic cover will crack easily.

Mine is a little loose at towards the tailgate to but not enough to be a issue I usually press down on it and you hear a second click and that usually does it

Yeah, I'm not crazy about the 3.5/Auto combo. I preferred the powertrain in my 2006 but otherwise really like the truck

This is a stock cover from Toyota and would be available from the dealer or probably a bit cheaper online. There are aftermarket versions that are similar that may offer additional cost savings, but I've been very pleased with this product.

Until it gets stolen, that's the purpose for the locking gate.

You can buy locking tailgates. We're getting one for our 2011 Taco and then getting a tonneau cover. The locking tailgate is about $100.

Either your dealer or you could search for one online. I've found them on Craigslist fairly cheap too so its worth checking that in your area.

i got your exact description- 2019 taco DCLB 4x4 OR in quicksand with technology package, which means no BSM so i got chrome bumper caps.

You can get the off road 4x4 in a long bed and the double cab. I opted not to get the package that includes the sunroof, leather interior and jbl upgrade. I did get the technology package which gives you nav and wireless charging backup sensors and lane change alert. Also got the towing package and blackout package. On the tacomaworld boards you will find many a tacoma owner that opt not to get the factory leather because the quality is not all that great. Most get the cloth interior and buy the clazzio leather seat covers for about $500 for the full interior. They look better than factory and you install them yourself. Coupon code Tacomaworld will get you $101 off. They run $599 for single color and about $100 or so for stitching and emblem upgrades. I agree that you have to have a long bed for this cover to even be worth having. I'm searching for the right one.for mine. On my 2007 short bed I had the hard top undercover which was nice but in order to haul something in the bed you needed to remove the cover and store it somewhere. Not very practical when you are somewhere besides home and need to haul something.

If you need to move big stuff, just take it off.... all you need is a 12mm socket to remove the one bolt on the passenger side. Takes like a minute literally.....
