Toyota Vitz Locating Input and Output CVT Transmission Speed Sensors

Toyota Vitz transmission speed sensor location for both input and output speed sensor. The input speed sensor is usually located at the front of the transmission while the output sensor is located on the transmission close to the driving shaft connection to the transmission.

Since these are sensors, once they are going bad you will definitely get an engine check light. A scan would be the first step in identifying this problem.

A part from the engine check light you will have gear change problems.

my car is the vitz 2008 ncp91 has three sensors does your car only have two sensors? my car has two sensors at the front and one at the back. I am trying to locate the output speed sensor mechanic says there is a code for it but he changed one of the sensors at the front and same issue remains reading same output speed sensor now I am thinking he is unsure as he was not convincing. and your output speed sensor u said is at the back I am wonder if that is the one I need to get to. But let me know if you hav three sensors or not?

I have this same problem right now, i need to replace my output speed sensor, i got a check engine light and the code is p0722, my transmission is k410 for toyota vitz 2007 has 3 speed sensors and 1 oil sensor and judging from my diagram the sensor in the back is an oil sensor. My thing is im wondering which one is the output sensor, did you get yours fixed?

@@rayanclarke6891 yes he changed the wrong sensor went to an electrician who scanned it after he and took off the sensor at the back while the vehicle was running and found that the back one was output speed sensor changed it and no light since

@Rhico Ent perfect!, i testing my 3 sensors and they were fine, so i just ordered that same sensor at the back, cant wait till it arrives

2sz engine with cvt transmission toyota vitz 2003 model... the transmission is behaving like it is hunting gear ratio....changed cvt fluisld but still problem is there

Do a scan of the transmission to check abnormalities with the transmission or sensors.

the transmation is slipping does it need an oil change or something else could be wrong ?

You need to do a transmission fluid change.

@@josecristovaohall6411 no, speed sensor does not have this effect on transmission. If your transmission is slipping, most likely the fluid needs changing.

Hi SHEL Dock 1sz engine vitz 1999 what is the gray female plug above the thermostat hose or left side of the camshaft sensor 😊

Hi there, am gonna assume that your driver side is on the left of your vehicle because the female plug that appears to be close to the thermostat on my vehicle is the oxygen sensor cable going under the vehicle to the oxgen sensor.

@@snoopha3 it could be the temperature switch that turns the radiator fan on or off.

Do you know where the output sensor is located on transmission for 2007 yaris?

The output sensor is usually located on the transmission around the area where the shaft connects the transmission to the wheel.

@ShelDockToyotaVitz you wouldn't have a video or picture would you? I changed a sensor there but it did not resolve the issue. Everything is still not working just lights come on windows and Everything else still won't work

No transmission problem but it won't come out of park power steering went out and windows locks speedometer the only thi g that works is the head lights car runs took it to auto zone they hooked it up and said it was the speed sensor output that goes on transmission

Do you know if your transmission is leaking. If no fluid is in the transmission this is how it will behave.

If you can not determine this by yourself I would advise that you ask a mechanic to check it out for you.

3 engine mounts. One is attached to the bottom of the vehicle. It's difficult to see from up to.

The points that are shown are where the input and output speed sensors are located. To remove these sensors you need to remove the electrical connections then unscrew the small bolts then slightly twist and pull the sensor from the socket.
