Hello! Today I continue my new series - Vanmanyo Reviews - where I review train journeys I take, ranking them on several factors and calculating a total score at the end of the video for that journey (as a percentage). Today was the turn of the TPE 68s and Mk5as - sets which are no longer in use as of the 11th December!

*1 - Free seats is measured by how many free seats were available on that particular journey which may vary with date and stock used.
*2 - Catering may be different to what is normally available but is measured on what catering facilities were available when I went on that journey.
*3 - Cost is measured by price per minute of travel.
*4 - Toilet rating is measured by the cleaniless and functionality of the specific toilet looked at (not filmed in today's case).

I missed this out in the video but there is another reason why these units have been withdrawn and it is the lack of training that has been given to staff so only a limited number of staff can work them, with the training backlog not being addressed due to DfT funding cuts! It's a huge shame these are going; if you enjoyed this video please do consider subscribing and liking - it's completely free and you can always reverse it later!

the class 68s are very good idk why TPE removed them after 4 years but kept their 185s after like 17 years in service

Now It Looks Like Class 68's And Mk5's Have Been Replaced By Will You Guess A 3 Carriage Diesel Multiple Units Class 185's When It's 3-Coaches To Manchester Airport Or Liverpool Lime Street From Scarborough And Cleethorpes Oh My God! This Makes Everyone Sad And Heartbroken When The Nova 1 Push-Pull Units Are Gone Forever 😭 😥 💔 But Thank God Some A Lot Of Units Are Taking 6-Coaches And Some 802 5-Car Bi-Mode Trains Running To Scarborough When They're Came From Manchester Airport And Liverpool Lime Street 😌

it’s a shame we’re losing them. they were meant to be put onto the Saltburn-Manchester Airport route but it never happened, and obviously now it won’t happen. they were meant to replace the 185s so i’m not sure what will now replace them

After All Of The Class 68's And Mk5's From TransPennine Express Withdrawn Last Year In December Due To Department For Transport Funding Cuts And This Is Why I Hope The Tories And The Government In England All Be Broken Up This Year Very Soon Similar What They Both Did Back In 2017 Cancelling Projects Like Electrification To Swansea Derby Nottingham Sheffield And Windermere And I Hope The Department For Transport Will Bringing Back The Class 68's And The Mk5's Onto TransPennine In The Future Over A Decade 👿

Typical TPE casting aside innovation and modernity, to save a quick buck (they've said that driver training is too intense on these sets... what?). I hope they go to Chiltern, Hull Trains or TfW who will stretch their legs and make the most of them.

With any luck maybe these can find a new home with another operator. At least being loco hauled they can run on either diesel or electric routes. Maybe TfW can snag them to replace their old LNER hand me downs
