I think it would be fantastic to have an episode comparing original 70s/80s pedals with their re-issue counter parts. For example; MXR Phase 90 vs Phase 90 script (original 70s) and so on. MXR distortion + vs MXR distortion re-issue, just to name a few. Cheers, guys!

I've had and used an AD9 for years, confess I love the analogue warmth it has as well as it is simple to get the best out of. Always been a weakness that is does not have the length of delay of a lot of other delay pedals but I've never been left wanting by the AD9 :)

For me these are just the best delays. The first I owned was the Ibanez Delay Champ. Ran it with a dry and wet stereo setup, the repeat on the extension cabinet of the same amp head.

both sounded good (and I'm using quality outboard amp and studio monitors), but I'm a diehard Boss fan. I think for the casual player they have the right combination of price/performance and durability.My next pedal will be the DM2, as I love analog delay.

While we're on the topic, do you find the BD-2 waza craft pedal addresses any of the issues that the Keeley mod does? I gather it doesn't specifically, but it is still satisfactory on its own. I have one (a waza) and love it and have no plans to get it modded, but I wonder what I'm missing.

I would love to see a comparison among speakers. I know this would be more difficult but you could limit the comparison to say Celestion alnico ( blue or gold) and Celestion ceramics (G12H30, Vintage 30, Greenback). I have found mixing speakers can give a broader sound palette (e.g. Alnico and ceramic) much the way you have demonstrated with combining amps. Please keep up your fantastic work and know you are costing me a hell of a lot of money!

The DM 2 sounds really clean and maybe a tad bit compressed which might be good or bad.... it sounds better with Distortion and with just a rhythm guitar..... but I like the AD9 way better because it's what I want... is just dirty and nasty tone and it's got a bit more spring to it versus the Boss DM2 ......

Hey guys, lots of videos of delays which have been great to watch. What would be great to see is using them within a genre context with useful settings. I am so confused now that it would be great to do a show on usedful delay settings. I notice you guys never use tap tempo and always play slow riffs when demoing, but whatabout extending that to not just demoing but also how to sue them,,,,,, a classic rock setting, Funk (chic), etc etc . Much appreciated.

You need to compare a cranked tube amp (with that lovely natural overdrive) to the best amp-like overdrive pedals. Be good to see if a decent OD pedal can get close to the real sound of a naturally overdriven tube amp.

+Adam Moss Watch next week's video, Adam (Jan 6, Low Volume & Bedroom Tones). It's really not that hard to replicate the general EQ and gain characteristics of various amps using pedals. But it's the feel and volume that is the bigger differentiator. We're working on a video approach that should help explain this a bit more. With amps, so much if it is about volume. Cheers!

Nice. I think the pedals are really close in the tones presented here. I would go for the least expensive - lol. How about an A to B of one of these pedals against a digital delay like the Flashback? I recognize that the Flashback is more flexible, but I'm interested in the tonal comparison. Final thought, when will pedal companies start a relic line where they purposely abuse, ding and scratch the finish of the pedal so that they can charge us more? Ha! :-)

Thanks again guys. A bit off-topic, but hoping you might be able to help. I would like to split my guitar signal into 2 into 2 channels in my audio interface for recording (1 wet and 1 dry). Guessing this will need the same device as you use for inputing into 2 separate amps? Any advice on what will be needed - and have you covered it in any of your vids (haven't seen anything - but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for though).
@gophercrow
@gophercrow 7 жыл бұрын
Wyvernwood they use Dan's GigRig G2 to handle the switching as well as output to two amps. Check out Dan's Daniel TheGigRig channel for more product info about the G2.
@wyvernwood5675
@wyvernwood5675 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I would love a GigRig, but its probably a bit out of my price range to accomplish a split/duplicate signal. Are there any other options? since posting I've been looking at AB/Y switches - not sure if these are what I'm after. There also seems to be a variance in price from about £30 to nearly £200. Not sure what the difference is, and whether it is the answer for me or not.
@BlackTopAl
@BlackTopAl 7 жыл бұрын
You'll want a DI box with two outs - the DI dry straight into your interface, and the 'thru' to your amp to be mic'd or however you record your effected tone.
@wyvernwood5675
@wyvernwood5675 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alex, ideally for the moment I want to record both wet and dry - split the signal and put them into L/R channel respectively. Hopefully that way If necessary I can go back into the DAW and post process the dry signal if the need arises later on (usually I end up wanting to tone down the effects slightly from the original recording).
@BlackTopAl
@BlackTopAl 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I get that - so you use a DI box to get a totally dry signal. If you need to, you can then re-amp that dry recording with whatever amp/fx you like. It's done all the time in studios (usually when some idiot turns up with a Line 6 amp that they insist on using!).

KoT vs Carpe Diem. It seems Dan's KoT has been gathering dust since the Carpe Diem landed ...

+Chris Vernon Very different pedals, but an interesting comparison nonetheless! Carpe Diem is very Marshally with a ton of gain and fairly 'flat' EQ. By comparison the KOT is more 'overdrive pedal' with less gain and more mid hump. We LOVE them both.

That Pedal Show thanks for the reply. I remember you doing an 'alternatives to KoT' video a while back, how about an 'alternatives to Carpe Diem' ? It's obviously a huge hitter for Dan to knock the KoT off the board :-)
