Hello Jeremiah! Try a Brinkmann Treasure Sensor 4000. Rock-solid pinpointing. Nulls on almost (ALL) iron. Very simple to ground tune. It is a non-disc. TR and easier to set up than the typical vintage Bounty Hunter TR and/or Bounty Hunter VLF/TR disc. model. Goes appx. 9" on a medium-size coin. I don't use headphones either by the way. Just turn down my volume if it's too loud for my surroundings. Good Luck!

The Nautilus is probably the most powerful of them all and I'm not impressed with the inability of the F2 to 'see' through the iron and still correctly i.d. the quarter and the nickel. I have a Bounty Hunter VLF/TR 840 w. disc.; kind of like the Bounty Hunter TR-550's 'big brother'. Can detect a quarter at 12" and a dime at 9". Pretty respectable, even by today's standards. I enjoyed your test especially against the 'old school' detectors. Nice, older machines.

Hi there, thanks for watching. I have been wanting to find a good powerfull old school detector, If I can find a BH 840 I just may have to give it a try. I did have some luck with the F2 around Iron infested area's like cellar hole hunting, but the 11" seem to do the best.

Are you telling us that the Fisher F2 cannot pick up the coins even if it is set to discriminate iron? What happens if you set the F2 to discriminate out iron, and place the nail/file on top of the coins? Does it still not distinguish the target as a coin?

Hello, I've got a old Bounty Hunter TR-1000-D Discrimiator metal detector but I can't figure how to set it up correctly to work. It's a little different from the one in your video. It has a ground balance too. This ground balance button is a 10 turn pot. The coil has a "Bounty Hunter Recovery Team" written on it. I try to tune it pressing the handle button and turn tune button until hear a faint sound then release it. I let the ground balance around the 5th turn. But if I let the tunning knob around 20 or more, the sound goes up very fast and i have to retune it by pressing the button very frequently. Could you help me? Best regards.
