Thunder Force is a series that is instantly recognizable as a major player in the Sega Genesis library. The Thunder Force games are colorful, sound incredible and play great and are some of the best shooting games on the system.
In this video I start to trace this series through the roots in Japanese computers and then to the release of Thunder Force II on the Sega Genesis.

Love the ThunderForce series Starting from 2 was good but 3 and 4 are mega drive best shooters 👍 great video

I didn't start liking the series really until Thunder Force III came out. I still have the original cartridge I bought of it back in 1991.

Thunderforce 2 was the first game I bought for my Genesis. The music is still burned into my brain 34 years later.

A few of the tracks in the game are solid gold. Not bad ones to have stuck in memory!

At the start of this year I had decided to play through all of technosoft's mega drive games and try to 1CC them. I played the TF gamesn in reverse order, and ended with TF2. I must say it took a while to get used to the top down levels. Like you I had no clue what to do. These did grew on me though, qnd I whished all levels were like this. As I just could not get into the horizontal side scolling levels. Everything about them just felt off to me. Only the weapon variaty was nice. But I could not bring myself to grind them for a 1CC. Thanks for this video, really enjoyed it, and will check out your other ones in this series.

I missed out on very few gems on the Megadrive, I was just good at picking them and besides Ecco I only owned Japanese made games. I owned all the Megadrive Thunder force games and Herzog Zwei as well.
