As much as I enjoy Brosnan's Bond, I think the chemistry between M and Craig's Bond is more felt. They have this endearing mother-son type relationship which makes the Craig series more memorable.
@partsparis3 жыл бұрын
What does that make bronsons bond relationship with m if not mother and son
@jolicska2 жыл бұрын
mother ans son "chemistry" exactly what ruined the bond image in the new craig version. Sean Connery is the best a savage grown up man who walks on his own way,independent free from women's control.

I actually think Judi Dench's 'M' is the mother of James Master Bond (Daniel Craig). I also 'fan theorize' that all of the 'James Bonds' as depicted in the official motion picture franchise in-story are blood related. There are some clues throughout the series that would suggest this. As for Daniel Craig's interpretation, his mother's name is Monique; perhaps the kind of clue with an alternate meaning all along. Hmm. M and Bond do behave familiarly, but in such a way as to not tip off any one they are blood relatives. In Craig's five films, the backstory of 'James Bond OO7' as introduced in the novels and short stories re-tells how his parents passed away in 'a climbing accident.' I think the OO-program is actually for recruiting young men in to spy and surveillance active service whom come from emotionally traumatizing upbringings, but that there is more to it. I believe James' parents lived or the repeated 'climbing accident' narrative was always a ruse to train these 'in-the-field assets' to overcome tragedy and family drama (even though it was staged, unbeknownst to them at that time) by putting them in to rigorous training (01) 'for the greater good,' (02) 'on behalf of The British Empire,' and (03) 'for Queen and Country.' But, Bond being Bond knows full well he was never some conditioned asset but comes from a long lineage of 'loyal knights,' so to speak, to protect and preserve 'the British Empire' at any cost. The way M and Bond interact in the Craig films comes off as if they know the truth about themselves - mother and son - but have to remain 'hidden in plain sight' for the sake of the realm. In this line of thinking, even in 'Casino Royale,' Bond finding out M's real name may suggest he uncovered 'the truth.' His newly-awarded OO-status aided in gaining further access to things, but for the sake of duty, shelves it in the meantime, as being a spy has given him reason to live and that it is by now too much a part of whom he is now. This all may sound fanciful, but these undercurrent themes and plot twists are not that un-heard of even in real life. How they banter could also be Bond's still-unaddressed personal resentment for how he was taken away from his parents to grow up being trained in the military and the OO-program, robbing him of his youth, and a strong desire to make up for lost time. Perpetual internal conflict? He was genuinely mournful when M passed way right in front of him, perhaps losing his mother all over again. And since Bond is a spy, even conversations in private must be in code in case that at any given moment even he is being spied on, thereby making would-be adversaries continuously trust in 'the climbing accident story.'

I love how Judi Dench changed her approach on how she portrayed M in the Craig films. Shs has much more personality this way and losing her in Skyfall was so much more emotional because of it.
@jamarnemcgill14003 жыл бұрын
It also seemed like Bond and M switched personalities too. Remember how blunt Dench was during the Brosnan era? LOL. Then, as I was watching the earlier Craig films, it occurred to me that Bond was now the cold and blunt type with Dench's M being slightly relaxed.

The way this film weaves 9/11 into the plot is amazing and it got me thinking. We know based on the events of the film up to this point that Le Chiffre made huge bets against the stock of Skyfleet right before the failed attempt to bomb their obvious A380 and 747 parody prototype. What if in this timeline Le Chiffre, either directly or indirectly, financed Al-Qaeda with the money needed to pull off the September 11th attacks and then used the money in return to bet against American Airlines, United Airlines and plenty of companies that had offices in the Twin Towers, something that according to news articles actually did happen in the days leading up to September 11th, totaling winnings worth about $5M. That would be a very subtle but interesting backstory for this modernized villain, and as I've mentioned already, a fantastic way to update the villain from the book.
@albeertoh21314 жыл бұрын

If the character of Q was established in this film, it would be him administering the shot as well as explaining the technology.

Which ironically makes this a meta call back to 'Dr. No', given that was the first movie of the original Bond series and featured Major Boothroyd (Q's real name), but played by a different actor, predating the iconic Desmond Llewelyn.

The critics, both the paid and unpaid ones, dislike Craig's Bond for his lack of humor and for being too dark. They are ALL obtuse. Craig's Bond has a great sense of humor, but it is very subtle and quite dry. In addition to the "ow" comment, he tells Vesper that she is "every penny (of the money)", he also notices that Mr Mendel "didn't bring any of the little chocolates" while giving a 'no really' smirk, and finally, he fantastically laughs at Le Chiffre as he tells him that "he's got a little itch...down there" and "the whole world is going to know that you died scratching my balls".
