Line Boring. Line boring -- sometimes called "align" boring -- is an engine machining process that establishes perfectly straight bores for crankshaft and camshaft housings (also known as tunnels or saddles). It is the most essential step in "blue-printing" an engine block.

Too many people criticise the men in these videos. They know what they're doing. This is down and dirty, fix the junk and get it back into production as soon as possible kind of work. Everything isn't as supercritical as you youngsters seem to believe. I'm in my sixties, been working as a mechanic since I was a little kid, and I can remember when thingswe're done like this in a lot of shops in the United States. I've seen some of that down and dirty work last a long long long time, I've also seen factory rebuilds self-destruct in a week or two. These guys are getting it done, with what they have to work with, not sitting around making excuses as to why it can't be done.

I agree with your comments , however no real excuse for dragging machined surfaces across dirty / concrete flooring , even if they fix it up surely that's adding risk of failures and work .

Правильно говоришь, Сергей! В 1974 г после школы работал в АТП слесарем...То, "как"и "чем" работали старшие, будь то мотористы или агрегатчики, нынешним спецам диванным даже неведомо. Блоки Зиловские размороженные варили, не выбрасывали, я не говорю уже о ремонте корпусов, чулок мостов, ну и многое другое. Сейчас зажрались, чуть что - в м/лом.

А какие условия у нас? У нас такая жесть и бред, индейцы нервно курят в сторонке. Доживаем последнее оборудование и людей. Потом первобытно общинный строй. Эра айфонщиков и диванных ЧПУшников, тридэпринтёров и прочего бреда.

Considering it probably still needs cylinder boring and the top of the block decked, i love the "basic" setup. Calipers and micrometers have gotten the job done for a hundred years! These guys have quality skills. Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦

Стандартная, в общем-то технология. Расточка постелей коленвала (распредвала, приводов насосов, балансирных валов и т.д. и т.п. под ремонтные размеры) на горизонтально расточном. Авторемонтные заводы этим и занимаются (занимались раньше на потоке). Покрасить стены, на пол настил, заменить персонажи на славянские и тон комментариев изменится? Вкладыши ремонтные есть, а нет так изготавливаются, это не проблема. Полукольца тоже. Будет ходить. Ремонт в их условиях дешевле чем замена на новый. Это у нас зажрались. 30 лет назад капиталка мотора это был не форс-мажор был, а регламент. На автобазах подменные двигатели на имеющийся автопарк были всегда в запасе и менялись за день. Сломанное отправлялось на ремзаводы, оттуда получали восстановленное с гарантией. Трактора, комбайны, автобусы, грузовики думаете на них "контрактные" агрегаты ставили или сразу в чермет? Ну-ну. Автобусы в ПАТП миллионы проезжали укатывая за свою жизнь десятки движков. То же самое и в таксопарках. А еще есть КПП, редукторы, карданы, раздатки, коробки отбора мощности...

Да это все понятно я тоже ещё захватил и рем завод и свои мастерские совхозные, НО напаивать коренные латунью... Ещё бы бабитом залили под перетяжку как в 30е годы.

@@Swarog35 восстановление чугунных постелей латунью стандартная процедура. Она есть в книгах по ремонту. Будет ходить долго. Наваривать пропитанный маслом чугун обычно бесполезно, да и не получится в гаражных условиях т.к. нужен подогрев. Сейчас полимеры применяют типа эпоксидок с наполнителями.

Интересный подход к расточке) Такие ответственные места растрачиваются почти на глаз. Там каждый микрон важен для плотного облегание вкладыша в постеле. Особенно удивило, что после установки блока по оси штанги молодчик вздумал протягивать бугеля на блоке с моментом)) Он по-любому всю установку блока на станке сбил) Колено будет лежать в блоке после расточки по диагонали))) Круто!

Нормальный подход. Подшипник скольжения допускает ошибку до 0.08мм и работает до зазоров в 0.3мм на диаметр при диаметре 50...80мм. Движок старый, низкооборотистый. Пойдет. )))

@@artemvinogradov7306 у меня такой износ был в быстроходном дизеле фордовском 1,8 TDI. И ничего не развалилось. Потом обмеряли шейки и тупо поставили новые толстые вкладыши. Машина до сих пор на ходу и отлично работает.

@@someone1089 the newer ones maybe but some of the the older ones are from 20's and 30's i remember once seeing a machine in India and it had a date of 1901 on it and it was used daily if i remember correctly it was a very large piller drill.

ну , что тут сказать ... стандартная , в принципе , процедура , напайка , расточка , видать , вкладыши и на колено намотало и постель задрало изрядно , тоже , ничего такого , бывает . так то , дядька сноровисто работает , вроде бы и станок ему не в диковину и мерительным инструментом пользоваться умеет . но , блин , неужели нельзя какую нибудь повозку сварить , сколотить , чтоб блок не кантовать и по булыжникам не шоркать ... прям , как у нас , круглое таскаем , квадратное катаем ...

The engine is cleaned at the time of final assembly. They just cleaned the area where they will do the repair. For sure spending time and money on the work environment and tools will help them a lot, but the thing is, customers don't pay much money for these repairs, hence there is no budget left for safety equipment, bigger dirt free shops. If they start charging more money customer will walk away to the next shop for cheaper price.

As far as I've been able to make out, the handling of the parts seems tough and to many just abhorrent. But considering the clear lack of options for new these engineers and engines seem to keep these nations moving. Why else would they bother. We like to sit on the fence with high standards etc. But we should also remind ourselves that quality doesn't always beat quantity. I've been very impressed at the skill shown here. And the confidence. Lastly the safety Sandals are key to a comfortable days work.

Just a thought: talking about the dirt and dragging the block. They're probably going to cut the deck, so that gets taken care of, and just maybe they cleaned off some of the crud before they actually started. What I'm saying is that some of their actions may be for theatrical effect. Think about how the dragging and such was presented and focused on. Got my attention.

Yep, just make sure to drag the engine block through dirt first so as to have it fully coated and then start welding, boring and honing away!. It doesn't take much to do a clean job and in a safe working place, does it?.

I challenge you to go live with these guys for a month. I bet that you don't survive. You will be doubled over the toilet in a few days after drinking the stagnant water in Karachi. It is a different world, don't go putting them down just because they don't live in a nice clean place like you. Given the same tools, money, social conditions, I would imagine that they would be better machinists than the vast majority of first world labor.

@@MattRogersdesigns Put the engine block on a scrap of carpet, wood, whatever you have on hand. Then you drag it if you must. The criticism is valid - there’s no excuse for marring mating surfaces of a block you intend to repair. I’ve done plenty of backwoods repairs and was never as careless as that, regardless of the conditions.

It's amazing to me they can do accurate without dial indicators. You need to indicate both the front an rear bearing bores so they are straight or in same axis as the boring bar.

@@radekstepien1594 Bullshit. The quality of their job is going to be way outside of specification. For a start too much was machined out of the block, this invites a disaster due to reduced backlash in the timing gears.

In that case the crank would still be concentric to the original bore and therefore have no affect on the timing gear backlash. Maybe before you judge something with your condescending attitude, consider the possibility that they might just know what they are doing. If you were half as smart as you thought you were, you would be twice as smart as you really are.

@@artszabo1015 Nah that was a hack job mess every step of the way, dirty machined surfaces to align, aligning off damaged bores, laughable use of mics AND then the guy leans on a bar to torque bolts(spec?) while loosely clamped to bed, bet they didn't wait till block cooled properly from weld either.... would be out of line sloppy as shit, only saving grace is the engine being a very poor design and spec new that would need rebuilding every 2 years regardless.

Block is Perkins 4 236.They produce a home made copy.Can be bought from companies like Agriline or Vapormatic.Nothing is thrown away if it can be salvaged.Here that block would be in the scrapheap.

Нижнюю часть постели коленвала понижать нельзя, так как это уменьшает камеру сгорания и увеличивает степень сжатия. В случаях когда крутящий момент от коленвала к масляному насосу или промежуточному валу передается через шестерни , данное понижение приведет к серьезным дефектам и выходу из строя двигателя.

фии. они отпускание металла и старение видал как смогли! потом хорошенько динамометрическим наглаз протянули резьбы, потом об пол пошабрили блок. я вообще думал, что когда ремонтные вкладыши уже всё - двигло в мусорку и на переплавку, однако можно постели наварить вот и новый блок! 🤣 такое в 80-90е г.г. было, вот, они переняли 😁

I really believed the talent of these guys, is this Pakistani people? I noticed because of their attire? I love these ORDU people! I worked with them in Saudi Arabia way back the year 1982 to 2006? I have so many friends ORDU people! SADIQUE!!!

Этим раньше ремзаводы занимались причём на потоке и было этих ремзаводов считай в каждом райцентре. А сча зажрались блок меняй и тчк, инструкция как восстановить блок и как надо и как это делается.

They work in the dirt which I've done myself when I was a kid back in the day. They don't have any tables. How stupid. Fix some places to work. They roll a damn block into the building when they could build a cheap lift for damn near nothing. It's just stupid. These guys are very talented by they need to take 4 complete days every month to work on their facilities. Build a tank that can be used to hot tank blocks and clean them properly. Have a little pride in your tools and facilities. Does anyone there own a torque wrench?

You may rant and stress about good workshop practices to those guys all the day but as a mechanic from a south asian country i can confirm that they won't give a damn thing about so called practices. Sometimes it is what it is. Just let them do their dirty job and forget about that part of the world.

I was thinking about the poor son of a bitch that is going to pay for that block full of dirt. It seems these guys do everything bass ackwards.

I wonder that constantly ......l find myself watching them splice hino frames and putting engines and tranies together on the dirt. Lol. Yea you GTA wonder how long that lasts..or how long the warranty is. Lol

How is the oil going to lubricant anything when all the holes are full of metal shavings and dirt ?? How long will it run once it’s been put back together ??

you do realise that the line bore is only the start of the machining process? The block deck can now be measured so that the height isn't diminished too much and the cylinder bores ,either re sleeved or bored over size before it's put back together. No way would they assemble it without a thorough cleaning.

It's always good machining practice to roll the piece to be worked on around in the dirt and cement to get as much grit and dirt into the equation. I guess it adds to the accuracy, lol

How do you acquire your heavy equipment machining tools? Do you buy them new from your national distributors or do you buy them used and imported from foreign countries?Or in some other way I haven't thought of?

These machines are made locally in bigger factories. These videos are from small shops who utilizes those machines.
