For anyone who questions why T-Mac isin the HoF, it's easy: he helped define a generation of basketball. In my opinion, he was the second most influential player of the early 2000's, next to of course AI. I can say that having been a teen in that period, and T-Mac was my favorite player. He influenced so many players. He was the first tall lanky yet athletic guy who could get mad buckets from anywhere. No wonder he influenced KD. Dude is a legend, so put some RESPEKK ON HIS NAME!

PoeticJustice05 nahh its because the NBA hall of fame is easy to get into. He was great one of the best talents of all time but his career didn't match his talent injuries played a part. Iverson had a way better career

Bruh, Tmac was scoring leader 2x and is one of the best scorers in NBA history when he was healthy. Also it's not easy to be put in the hall of fame, around 2% of the NBA player population get put in.

Injuries, bruh. T Mac was better skilled than Kobe then injuries started. T Mac was an unstoppable offensive force and was a good defender because of his athleticism and length.
@YaoSiabi
@YaoSiabi 6 жыл бұрын
Along with his other accomplishments, I think being a back to back scoring leader is what pushed him in. Anyone who does that has a legitimate claim at being in the hall of fame. That's pretty hard to do in any era. If you put this in context with how short his prime was that makes this even more impressive.

Yao Siabi so what about wining back to back DPOY awards? I know the game is about buckets but there are two sides of ball why is offense being so rewarded but defense isn't? Ben Wallace should have made it over t-Mac

Tmac vs Detroit. Pure domination by one player. Definitely one of the best 1on1 players. Played for many bad teams. If you think he doesn't deserve it you didn't watch him. Talent wise even with kobe from 2000-2008.

Kobe was always more effective, rebounded more, had more assists, more steals, etc.. Only 2 times Tracy averaged more pts per game than him (sharing the ball with shaq, don't forget), the difference was only by 2 points. Next season with the super team disaster featuring Karl and Payton, Tracy scored more as well. But those are the only 2 instances. Tracy completely fall apart after the 05-06 season. You can say Wade kept up with Kobe, not on the same level but close. To put Tracy on this level is something offensive.

@@RRRRRRRRR33 For me is quite easy. Take Kobe out of the threepeat Lakers. Substitute by 2004 T-Mac: Lakers threepeat all the same. T-Mac peaked out for a shorter timespan due to his chronic injuries, but when he was at his peak there was little to choose between Kobe and McGrady. The discussion was there about whom of both was a better player at the time. And we're taking KOBE here. That his peak was shorter can't be played against him. It's not as if he hurt himself on purpose, you know. Other players had short primes due to them not taking care of themselves or not working hard enough. THAT is different. But T-Mac had a short prime because he just got hurt. That shit happens, and unlucky as it may be it should not count against the player who suffers from them (the reason why I'm so glad Grant Hill made it into the HoF aswell) as long as his impact before his injuries was big enough for the league and game. Also is not as "he scored more" or "he scored less". It's all about the trasdendence of his game, how it impacted the league overall and how big his influence ended up being. That guy's peak was bollocks, plain and simple. He was literally torching everyone on his way, and he only stopped doing so when his body gave up on him. Back in '03-'04 there were as many TMac fans as there were Kobe's and that was for a good reason. They both were at a similar level, and if you really press me I'd say that TMac was the better of the two offensively (Kobe was always the better defender however). To say putting T-mac in that level is offensive is having never really watched him play. As simple as that.

Vince had his share of injuries, but nothing chronic like T-mac had. He's been relatively blessed to stay healthy for the last part of his career. Still, an impressive feat, it's not as if he's just playing for the show or for the sake of it, he actually is a positive influence to whatever team he's a part of. Which is truly mindblowing at his age.

TMac was the number 1 option on quite a few teams. He never really had a defining moment, well maybe that comeback, but he didn't really contribute deep into the playoffs. On top of that he NEVER had a rival. I always believe to be great you always need dominating moments either at the end of a season or playoffs, and the person needs to overcome challenges or dominate over other greats. I don't seem to recall anything he's done. During his era I only remember Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, Dirk, and Pistons. Also if he is a HOF worth why does he and the rest of the NBA keep talking about how he either deserves or doesn't. Seems like there are a bunch of people that suspect what I do, he doesn't truly belong. BUT he is in, so congrats I guess.

Kobe said that about everyone. Zzzz what memorable moments do you remember with Kobe and TMac going at it? Didn't think so. Also getting knocked out of the first round year after year is not an accomplishment. Heck midgIT carried his team to the conference finals. Plus TMac played in the weakest eastern conference since MJ's hay days. Also I NEVER mentioned rings. Notice I said end of season OR playoffs. Read before commenting next time homeboy.
@NoeticInsight

adelinared Naw come on fam...you can't be serious. The only people you remember during his era are Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Dirk and the Pistons? That era was FULL of memorable ballers. Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Allen Iverson, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Gary Payton, Ray Allen, Baron Davis, Amare Stoudamire, Tony Parker, Grant Hill, Chris Webber, Latrell Sprewell, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, Peja Stojaković, Gilbert Arenas...I could keep going and going. The league was STACKED with talent back then. You're a fake NBA fan if you think you only remember a few people back then. And I know you are a fake fan because how on earth can you say Tmac never had any defining moments? He was a BEAST in the playoffs, put on some of the greatest playoff performances ever. He didn't make it past the first round, but he played like an animal in the first round. He dropped 13 points in 33 seconds, he led the Rockets on a 22-game winning streak without Yao Ming, he dropped 62 points back when he was on the Magic, he had a crazy rivalry with Kobe and they would both dropped close to 40 points against each other pretty much every time they met, he put on a show in the dunk contest, he was one of the first to do an alley-oop to HIMSELF regularly, led the league in scoring TWICE...the man was an absolute beast and had crazy memorable moments. Too many to even list.
@EpicReign
@EpicReign 6 жыл бұрын
adelinared1 Don't look like I need to say anything else. Somebody else who actually watched TMac play has already spoken. But I will anyway. He literally was the number one option on 2 damn teams and was already too banged up to do much in ATL. And to be totally honest, he and Yao shared that responsibility when they were both healthy, albeit a short ass time. You act like Mac was a journeyman or something. You act like he didn't have the best stats in each first round playoff series he played in. You act like he and Kobe didn't have very similar statistics. You act like TMac wasn't a pg caliber ball handler and passer, with good defense, with unstoppable offensive ability, and incredible athleticism. He wasn't just athletic, he was smart as hell on the court. Are you 13 years old or just not a basketball fan like that? Got to be one or the other, talking like that. This man was a monster and people were worried when he stepped on the court. 7x all star, 2x Scoring Champ, 7x All NBA. Name somebody else who did that without winning a chip. You can't, outside of maybe Iverson, who is a HOF. Educate yourself bruh because we ain't "homeboys" until you figure this out.
