Wow very cool

The arrow (if even close to good tune) should not touch the riser. The feathers will. When you release the string, inertia is what causes the arrow to bend. That bend in turn, ensures the arrow will not hit the riser. The twist used on thumb shooting gives no clearance or performance advantage. The arrow is already off the string before the archer can twist the bow. In fact, it might (I cannot say for sure) do more harm than good. By twisting the bow, the string is no longer traveling in a straight line and this fact would cause it to lose energy. Best way to keep speed? Good form and a clean release. I think the reduction in speed is from friction on the feathers. I think that initial push, combined inertia, bleeds off energy. As it travels, the arrow will flex less and thus bleed off less energy.

Well over 100 yards. I can hit a Olympic archery target at 100 yards with my 30 pound bow. Seen a girl do it with a 20 pound bow too.

I cannot see how an arrow can increase in speed once it leaves the string. There is no more power transfer. From what I have seen in testing, the drop off in speed is noticeble at 10 yards.

@@TradArchery101 Thank you. so for this video where you were using 145 grain points, 200 -145 = 55 grain. 500 - 55 = 445 grain total.

@@Backin_Theday I was using full length arrows, with 200 grain field points. They came out to 498 grains total weight.

@@TradArchery101 I was confused then because at 4:27 minutes, you stated 145 grain. I was in my driveway with my chrony yesterday, shooting my Martin Saber that scales at 43.5 pounds (my 30 inch draw length) trying to replicate the fps with various weight arrows. With a 555 grain arrow I was able to get 148 fps max. With a 457 grain arrow I was able to get 160 fps max. With a 406 grain arrow I was able to get 170 fps. I finally dropped to a 303 grain arrow and was able to get 200 fps max. My bag target was so frozen that arrow bounced back out of its hole. I used a variety of arrows and tips that I had and scaled each set up before I shot repeatedly looking for the max number. All of this was done at a full arrow length from the front of my chronograph and I shot many multiple times to eliminate the errors and look for the consistencies. So I figured since my bow scales between your 38 and 48 I should get numbers approximately in between. I'm not trying to argue either just wanted to be able to add your findings into mine to get a better average data stream to use for theoretical calculations. @@Backin_Theday One thing I have found is that bows perform in no set manner. Here is a prime example: I have a Black Hunter Recurve, 30 Pounds and a Stealth Hunter Recurve, 30 Pounds. Using the exact same arrows, the Stealth Hunter is consistently 10 to 15 fps faster. All you can really do is "guesstimate".

Depends on what I'm doing. Anywhere form 350 to 500.

You do know that an arrow is not and can not be in Paradox. The paradox is something that the archer sees. And that it only occurs on bows not cut to or past center. As for my measurements, It is just to give archers an idea of when an arrows losses speed (which can also be read as energy bleed off).

If i wanted to see people walking around i would just go outside anywhere. i'm not trying to insult you, honestly, i appreciate the video, i'm just trying my best at giving constructive feedback, but i'm an asshole by nature at the same time.

@@pl1676 I understand but you also have to realize is that I had other people complain about wasting time showing every shot, and other people complain that I do not show all the shots. This was just a comprise.
