The Newmar King Aire is a top end coach. The Prevost Conversion is another level. I have an 06 Wanderlodge 450 Lxi. They all have issues and need constant attention and maintenance. That costs money. As long as you know that upfront your expectations are realistic.

Being a truck driver and an owner of a 2015 Ram diesel pickup I can say from experience that the problem with DEF systems overall are over blown. All one has to do is learn how the system works and how to prevent issues in the first place. 149000 miles on my RAM and only been in the shop once for DEF issue and it was the wiring harness. Our tractors hardly ever have DEF issues. That being said, I would still prefer NOT having it at all.

First ever repair that I learned on a truck was how to fix the DEF system. It was a hino 338. Had pretty much everything wrong that could be wrong. The pattern to it was clear, poor maintenance and constantly running the system empty. After that I feel I could diagnose and fix any as long as I have a laptop and software.

We have a 38ft 2012 Tiffin Allegro Red qra bath and a half. We traded up from a 34ft. Winnebago Suncruiser both diesel pushers. The move to Tiffin from the Winnebago was startling with the improvements in handling, power, and interior aesthetics. And even though we are very satisfied with the Tiffin, it sounds like a move into a Prevost would be a likewise eye opening, albeit much more expensive experience. Thanks for sharing. I will check out Coachnet vs. Good Sam or AAA RV towing options. We switched to Good Sam from years with AAA and had to have our coach towed due to a water pump problem, while snow birding in Phoenix last year. We were advised by the tow operator to go back to AAA because of his years of experiences dealing with both. So we will add the Coachnet advise to our consideration process.

DEF is designed to clean the dirty, poisonous exhaust of diesel fuel. So basically breath a lot better or poison everyone around you or don't care about that. I think they should stop playing around and go the Tesla way and get rid of the diesel engine.

He's got the Detroit, that engine is sparky. Lol. 2 things to remember on Detroit's, they will leak oil eventually, the alternator mount will eventually break.... Fitzgerald does a alternator mount upgrade that works flawlessly. The oil leaks, between 750k and 1 million miles. That coach will do 2 million miles with proper maintenance

I think these folks didn't say what they were really feeling: "If we're paying about a million dollars for a coach, we expect better than what we got." The idea of buying a luxury RV is to be able to travel comfortably, but what they seemed to have gotten is, "don't worry, we'll have this problem figured out ASAP, and get you back on the road soon (even though it's brand new). At this level, maybe Newmar should have King Aire loaners available when customers go in for service or try much harder to produce a flawless coach?

But at that price point you get either a new King Aire or a 10 year older Prevost. Sure Prevost conversions are a step up from a King Aire but will cost twice as much for new models. I'm sure Marathon and the other conversion company owners have had some issues with their coaches also, higher price tag does not always equate to less problems. Does Marathon give out loaners when theirs have problems?
@douglastong3208
@douglastong3208 4 жыл бұрын
@@JJ-zd5ld I'm sure Newmar and King Aire don't get a solid reputation by being mediocre or underperforming, but the owners in this interview seemed to be suggesting that in their experience, it was at least one problem too many that kept them from enjoying their trips. As for dissatisfied Prevost owners, that will be up to Andrew to find... do they exist?

Hi Andy, I think most of us know the difference between Prevost vs production coaches. I see you have about 15 videos trying to prove how much better a Prevost is over production. WE get it. I assure you. Let's move on. Everybody would be ridding in a Prevost if they could afford them. I bought a 2014 Tiffin 45 LP never had any problems what so ever beside changing motor for blinds. That's it! AS far ridding down the road, (smooth as silk.) I assure you I have double the Sq footage as Prevost. Prevost would be my choice if I was going coast to coast once a week.. My two cents. lol

Let him produce what he wants. I choose to hear more about Prevost. I can assure you he has more videos about folks choosing other coaches over a Prevost. Everyone/anyone can have problems new or used. My buddies 08 Prevost Liberty has been pretty much care free except for some expected upgrades. I have never driven a coach that drives better and you don't need to drive cross country all the time to appreciate that. To be honest it isn't even a comparison as the Prevost is on a whole other level

The basic premise of the New owner’s conclusion is flawed. There is expectation that the 2008 Prevost that they haven’t even taken delivery of will be better than what they have now. My guess, there will be a new set of problems. These are very complicated vehicles built in very low production. As owner’s we are the guinea pigs debugging them. We must create the lists and then have the problems fixed and after a certain number of service appointments the kinks are worked out if the coach was built properly in the first place, a big “If” in the world of RVs. Yacht owners have the same struggles during the commissioning period, and many of those yachts cost $10s of millions, but again, are custom built.

Prevost units in general are not low production, the chassis are solid, and have a more than proven track record. Some of conversion companies have less experience than others, and many failures come from electronic components added by said converters

Prevost just makes the chassis, the Coach Builder is responsible for everything from the paint to the interior. I don't get the obsession with Prevost...several generations of those chassis are know for their panels on the sides delaminating and it cost a fortune to repair. I always laugh when I see someone running around an RV lot going, "Where's the Prevost?"
@deanhauser6626
@deanhauser6626 4 жыл бұрын
How could the Prevost be quicker off the line with less horsepower? It would have to be gear ratios or actual horsepower to the wheels. Newmar King Aire has 605HP, Prevost has 505hp? Something doesn't add up unless the newer Newmar is so choked down with the DEF and it's heavier
@lrsmith6037

I noticed the Newmar is made in Indiana. It seems like all I hear is horror stories about RVs from Indiana. If I was the owner of one of these Indiana RV manufacturing companies I would invest in getting my plant ISO certified to eliminate these problems.

ok healthy debate or food for thought here - 1st show me a guy that has driven his motor home 100k , seriously i want to meet him- so Freakin rare! much less a million miles,A New Prevost will lose every one buying one more $ than a new king aire every single day of ownership BAR none! now is it nicer? well yes but what i said is 100! for those who can afford a prevost well more power to you! but what i said is true, it may hurt, and may suck but if your talking $ you will lose more daily! :) price a 2000 prevost vs a 2000 king aire that proves most of the point of cost of ownership . yes i do own a 2000 lol , is my 2000 newmar still valuable? look one up on Rv trader and a prevost also the #s are way closer to the same value now, they are both toys! now if you say the boy with the most $ to buy the most expensive toy wins well then in your book the guy with the Prevost wins:)

this guy is the most negative person to any coach other than Prevost on KZfaq. I do say one thing, any brand new coach no matter what the cost is should leave the factory with everything working as should and, should work well at least through the time of the warranty. Whatever the King Aire had for warranty for that should last for years and years without problems.
