How to Trade Order Blocks | Forex Trading Strategy

Trading order blocks in Forex should be relatively simple.
Although I am self-taught, I also used the term 'order block' when looking at the last candle before a strong up or down movement within the market, often breaking a key area of supply and demand.
What I've found, however, is that the concept of Order Blocks, if kept simple, can be extremely effective especially when entering several times within a single trend; using scale-ins where possible.
I know that the official term of 'order blocks' used by some other traders here on KZfaq have a far more detailed explanation of Order Blocks, but this here works well for me.
I'll be creating a video soon which will help identify a good order block vs a bad order block by considering things such as breakers, imbalance, moving averages, and stochastics (if indicators are your thing). Until then, please do let me know your thoughts in the comments.

That was Golden! I've been backtesting myself in a similar way but without the logic you have shown. This is far better than what I was doing and makes better sense of Price Action. Thanks so much Andrew. That means a lot mate. I'm going to record a couple of follow-ons to this to show better entries with less drawdown / losses whilst ensuring that the wins are just as good. Its so simple, but got to make sure that the market is likely in a trend. Still, 20R from 12 pips 😄. Best I did was around 60% in one night back in March

I may have modified the OB requirements since this video. Most just stand out on the chart but often the best include confluences such as sweep into mitigation, imbalance, aggressive push in wrong direction sizable compared to nearby candles, no imbalance on far side etc etc

Thanks mate, much appreciated. Yes - especially with XAU, and different time frames for different pairs. Pyramiding is key to successful account growth, but it can absolutely deplete your winners sometimes (just got to learn to stomach floating 10% up, only to close at 3% sometimes)

you are professional. give us quality demonstrations its order block is ....a change in the syate of delivery. take out the high. take out the low fvgap. then off it goes in its correct way. Time of day. yes your London breakout not too accurate. 8 30. 9.30. better play out. you trade like it. both self taught both come to same conclusions plead please please always give back hope your always profitable tell people it takes your health. confidence and then more. hope you get your confidence back. you deserve it

Great video Paul, just what I needed. One question - why are you doing this overnight? Do the normal UK daytime hours just not offer the same opportunities? It looks broadly applicable?

Hi Tim, I was using the Asian session originally as I find that on GU it tends to trend more often than range, and the SL I could keep as 2.5-3 pips. With the London and NY sessions, I needed a SL of 6 pips, but their ranges would often back into each other. E.g. NY would often reverse on the London session, so the actual range of the day is impacted. It can work well though - it's just finding the balance of what works with you.

Hi Paul, congrats on the great video, very straight forward. re your multiple entries, do you have multiple individual positions or a single position (essentially DCA'ing)? No matter how many trades as long as you are locking in profits by moving SL are you always using 0.5% ? It's like a trailing SL but with multiple trades which is safer as you get confirmation and can lock in profits real quick. I like it mate. Keep up the great work.

So I do some backtesting and it looks like counter trend moves are trying to fill up imbalances that are created on a higher time frames like 3 and 5 minutes. Has any one else found that out?

Always HTF for direction and try to get entries on a timeframe lower. POI to POI - if you can get a LTF entry on a HTF POI, then the target remains the same... just the RR gets MASSIVELY increased

I use an ECN broker so commissions are tiny per trade. My spread is usually 0.0 to 0.2 pips as well

Exactly the same as 15m mate. Only difference is on the 1m you can use the 15 as the point of interest.

If you take ALL of them - around 30%. If you take the extremes only, around 45% (on EURUSD). If you take the extremes and the EQ, 36%, but you will have a staggeringly higher % rate.

A lot of them do. Use the final 50% on a pullback so ignore a lot of them. A lot of thr time the orderblock on the break is the one which holds

I didn't pick up where you placed your entries. You showed the stop location. But the entry was not clear. The idea of the block is dependent on a good swing?

That might be a bit of a struggle mate. You'd realistically need 1:30 (I used to be at 1:30 until recently). Your lot sizes will need to be very small if you're using very small stop losses, but nothing stopping you using OBs on the higher timeframes with a 1:10

Thanks so much! It got really bad last year - was on the verge of getting a defibrillator fixed I think. A lot better now though thankfully! No vax for me - I was scared of how many people were getting heart issues after it... Covid lasted about 4 months this year though as a result!

Don't worry my friend, you'll get there. Order blocks, entry off the 2nd iteration and spread your SL into smaller positions. I'll do a video very soon on how I made a 26 trade losing streak cost just 8% of my account rather than 26%

Yeah, m15 is the confirmation for me within a h4 htf. If I can be at the chart which is rare these days then I try to get a stop order on a 1m candle

Try rehearsing before your next video please it would have the length I'm sure. The constant back-tracking had me losing the will to live, it is so difficult to follow what you were talking about and/or demonstrating on the screen. And then you are suddenly talking about something entirely different or changing your mind about what you were talking about in the first place. Get the idea? The idea is clearly a good one and I don't really care if these are order blocks, blocked orders or ice cream cornets. I just want clarity.
