Backtesting Order Blocks on the XAUUSD / GOLD for the timeframe of January 18th 2021 to Jan 25th 2021, using the 4H and 15M timeframes.
I reveal the full Order Block Strategy for the medium timeframe.
A really simple strategy with brilliant results and a bit of a headache in the middle!
XAUUSD (Gold) is a pair that I love to trade and I simply use this Order Block Strategy along with risk-level entries, so you're seeing it as I would do it.

Thanks man for this. One of the reasons I fell in love with your channel was your "Backtesting Orderblock Strategy" on the Aussie Yen, cause of the length of the video made me flow every step of the way. Your later videos became shorter so I fell out of love, now I'm in love again.

This is exactly the videos that i need. Instead of cherry pick some part of the chart by making use the advantage of hindsight to prove the method works like some other youtubers, you walk through the whole process and along the way explain the thought behind of why you would enter and why you would not. I am just hoping you will have your own course soon and I am ready to enroll into it.

Thanks Stefan! If in a key POI and it's strong enough, I try to trade away from them... but still wait for confirmation of this by breaks of structure if possible

Thanks Paul for brilliant videos. If we take all supposed trades, we will have quite a lot of loss trades. And if we account for the time that we can awake, I think we got around less than 5%. Anyway, 5% for a week is great result.

Hi Hung, that's right - you can take ALL order blocks and if you're targetting purely the HTF highs and lows then you're still going to be generally up. But - it's backtesting and forward trading that gathers the data on which order blocks look best to trade from... along with other confluences. Thanks for watching :)

Hi Paul. Great content again. In live trading, do you only take shorts in the premium zone and longs in the discount zone in a HTF bullish market, or do you just take what you see on LTF structure? Thanks again and looking forward to the course.

Hi mate, if it was a HTF bullish market, typically it'd be Longs from discount. I perhaps don't explain it so well in the videos, but Its essentially a break and retest, but a deep retest. For higher timeframes, I ideally want price to come back in deep - but there are several factors and confluences that will influence whether I get involved such as a strong OB, obvious imbalances, potential liquidity and general orderflow. Discount is always the furthest away from new price - premium is closes to new price (I really hope that makes sense)

Hi Paul. Thank you for another video. 😁 The explaination about how some of the orderblocks have been mitigated was super helpful in eliminating what orderblocks are better to use. Sometimes we need someone to point out the super obvious 😅 Can I check do you account for spreads in backtesting because the stop losses are a bit tight. Do the spreads affect your gain rate?

Hi Hanny, great comment, and I'm really glad that helped you! I don't account for them often in backtesting, mainly because it affects the RR. In real life trading on my personal account, the spread is often 0.0 or 0.1. If using funded accounts, I try to account for around 0.4. I hope that helps!

Any tips on avoiding bad order Blocks? You skipped over a lot of the smaller orderblocks, which would have been a loss, but i tend to take those aswell, so my winrate is about 10% trading with the trend… A video about bad or messy looking orderblocks with examples would be amazing. Thanks for your work man, i’m struggling with this strategy, but it seems to have much more potential than Support resistance with a 2/1 RR 😊

Hi Sean, sorry for not seeing this earlier! I'll create a questionaire for everyone soon with a few basic questions and based on that people will be invited into the first round of traders. I used to do consulting calls, but haven't done in a while due to a squeeling baby in the background - he's sleeping more often now so might open these back up again soon. Hi Steven, I just use TradingView - I know there are others out there, but I've just got used to doing it on there. It's also very nice for taking chart screenshots and gathering data. There was one I heard of earlier I'm going to check out though

Hi Paul do you factor in swap rates into your risk parameters ? Also the short trade since $1920 ish, are you trying to be realistic about the psychological aspect there ? For example at the $105 drop mark at $1815 ish Low, surely there must be be some temptation to take a chunk off ? Even on the 4hr time frame it will run into weekly/monthly demand/supply at some point, do you also give that consideration ? Sorry if this has been covered but not heard it covered up to now in 2 prior videos of this series and confess only just started this video but wanted to ask while the thought was fresh in mind, as being a tad over the hill I forget easily !! Not picking just really interested and appreciate the time you have spent on this project. Cheers

I like your style Paul. Obviously no trader will get all these trades because not even Superman can trade 15 min charts 24 hours a day. But 9 to 12 trades a week should equate to 3 to 5 trades for the average Joe who sleeps each night... and give10% to 15% profit a week...

Spot on mate - If I stick to my plan, I feel less bothered about the RR I gain or lose. If I took every trade available even just on the 15, it levels at around 10% if I trade only daytime UK time

Body break = confirmed movement outside of said range. Wick break = previous break with resistance against the move. Probability of breaking outside on the next candle is practically halved.

Only because it would be hard / take waaaay too long on a KZfaq video. In real life conditions I take partials nearly every trade. Capital preservation is key

27 mins in - high before the big drop off didn’t break previous high at that level so low is weak. Need to focus on strong/weak highs/lows
