Hi Juliette! How are you? This video is in perfect timing! I had the purple Wandering Jew Plant. It grew very quickly and the leaves were very close together. I propagated it and kept making more and more plants. Two weeks ago, I bought the green version. It was a small, 2.5" plant. Right off the bat, it started to wilt and look terrible. I watered it when it was dry with hydrogen peroxide and water. It continued to decline. I just took 5 very small cuttings. Have them in water with a few drops of Superthrive. Hopefully it will come back. I have never seen the Nanock. Very beautiful plant. Enjoy your Earth Day tomorrow. Gerry HPEteacher 😎

Your voice so relaxing that you should do ASMR. The potting up sounds were like ASMR for me too . Thank you so much for this video. I enjoyed watching every moment of it. I have mine in pumice mixed with Coco Loco potting mix( 2 parts potting mix to 1 part large pumice ) . Coco Loco n XS is a coconut coir-based potting mix. I have it in good lighting. I actually have several of them around my house and they are all crispy and etiolated. Im finally going around and doing my cutting . Is it best to propagate them in water or can I just dip them in rooting hormone powder and put them straight in soil? I am going to try some of them in pure Coco Loco potting mix because I think that maybe they just don’t like how dry I keep them. I am the type to forget to water plants a lot. So I do best with succulents. Most of my regular house plants are very unhappy because it gets hot in my living room three to the grow light shelves I keep the succulents on . The tradescantia are either hanging next to windows or on tables with indirect light . I just can’t seem to get it right . Thank you again! You’re amazing. Love your style .

I think because you have the mother plant growing on the shelf is why the leafs are so far apart on the stems as if you had those beautiful bright colored ones with the roots that you propagated, they will grow upwards if you dontt put it up on a shelf trying to reach for the light.

Hi Lety, Thank you for your kind words and for watching our videos. Looks like you love Cactaceae family plants. They are pretty cool and amazing! Just like for any succulent or cacti, less is more! Most of the time overwatering is the main issue. Few Tips: 1. The right subtract: well draining mixture of bark, peat. perlite 2. Do not fertilize much - use Cactus fertilizer (half of recommended amount) quarterly 3. Do not expose to direct, intense sunlight (too close to south-west window) 4. Best to keep in tighter pot 5. Water through well, Then allow the soil to dry all the way through before watering again. Hope this helps. Don't get discouraged. We learn when we fail 😀 Green Luck! 🌱

@@NewUkeNewYork How long do you make your cuttings? So I found a method that works for me that you can try. Use a portable aerator and or diluted hydrogen peroxide to keep oxygen in the water. I started water-propagating some nanouk cuttings about 2 weeks ago... they have lots of roots already, ranging in length around 1-3 inches. Is it okay to pot them in soil now? Or should I wait a bit for the roots to get longer?
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants 3 жыл бұрын
Hi May, Yes, you are good to go! Remember to check on potted cuttings often as they need to be watered more frequent at the beginning to help them to adapt to the soil environment after being in water. Green Luck and Thank you for watching ! 🌱

My City Plants Thanks for the advice! I potted them in a terracotta pot, kept outside in the shade. It’s summer time now... what would be an appropriate watering schedule?
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants 3 жыл бұрын
The watering frequency will change and plants need to be watered more during warm seasons. The best is to check your plants twice a week to help you to understand how fast the soil is drying out. Once you understand the watering needs,, you can adjust testing the soil frequency.. Green Luck! 🌱

This is a very long wait for roots to come u just need to make small cuttings straight to the soil water well and keep the soil moist for at least 2 weeks and u have it try and u will never look back
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tips. 🌱 Yes, propagating in soil is another way to go. I personally prefer to pot plants (that can be propagated in water) into soil when they have some developed roots. Keeping soil evenly moist (while new roots develop) can be tricky and risk of overwatering is higher in this case 😀

Hi! Tradescantia can be finicky when it comes to watering, light and humidity levels. Make sure the plant gets a good light exposure but is away from direct sun. Allow the soil to dry between waterings and place a small humidifier amzn.to/45oho7h nearby. Green Cheers!

@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants Жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy, The most common reason for Tradescantia Nanouk root rot in water is not changing the water often enough. Change water at least once a week or when it looks cloudy. To avoid root rot in soil, use a very small pot so there is not too much soil around the cutting that does not dry fast enough. Green luck and Thank you for watching 🌱

Hi, Thank you for watching and your feedback. I think, when it comes to pruning, propagating, dividing, trimming, fertilizing, cleaning, dealing with pests, etc., it does not matter in which pots plants are growing. It just happens that all my plants are potted in Lechuza planters, most in soil BTW not PON 😀
