Sonia Bhat yes all traditional rice varieties are good for diabetes. But it must be hand pounded. But Ponni is not good even if it’s hand pounded

The information is really practical but what about the diabetic patients of our area (Northern West Bengal) ? Though there is a kind of local rice which are cultivated here...may be it's not as good as the rice found in southern India...pl suggest.

Yes.. sure it will help for PCOS.. the quantity of intake will fall drastically with this traditional rice .. so you can go ahead

Traditional rice will not be properly cooked in cooker. And most of the essential nutrients will be lost. Therefore it is not advisable

venkata subramanian of course we can and we have to. We have been eating traditional rice since pre harappan civilisation until 1960’s. It’s high time that we start eating this rice and avoiding all sorts of unnatural rice varieties like Ponni, sonamasuri etc..

Any maroon, red and black varieties are good for diabetes. There are many traditional rice varieties which are white like seeraga samba, Arkot kichli samba etc. they are not as good as red ones. So best is to go for dark varieties
