wet rice flour තෙත හාල් පිටි ( සුදු කැකුලු )
wheat flour පාන් පිටි පතක් පමණ
kithul honey කිතුල් පැණි
Sakkara jaggery සක්කර හකුරු
Sugar සීනි
Coconut oil පොල් කිරි
Cumin seeds සූදුරු
fennel seeds මහදුරු
Cardamom එනසාල්
Salt ලුනු
Coconut oil පොල් තෙල්

👉 Through this channel, food from around the world is cooked in traditional Sri Lankan ways using Sri Lankan spices. I am bringing you how to prepare even new types of food in a rustic way with a rustic taste. Also I show how the people of our country used to cook and live in the traditional way.

Today's note අද සටහන In Sri Lanka we celebrate the New Year in the middle week of April. We celebrate this festival as a respect to the sun that helped us grow our crops. We celebrate this festival by making traditional sweets in the family and in the village. This is indeed a spring festival. Trees and vines are blooming and bearing fruit. Bird songs are heard everywhere, the sun shines well in the morning and it rains well in the evening. So this is really a festive season for us. Everyone plays together. Beating the tambourine. Wearing new clothes. Cooking food. Food is shared. So, one of the traditional dishes made for this time of year is called Kawum (Oil Cakes ). In this video I have created the old ways and old looks that we used to celebrate New year festival in our 20th century history rather than the present day. So, come and participate in our spring festival with this video and see one aspect of it. I warmly welcome you to the traditional past of our country. I'm your loving Udarata Manike ( A traditional women from Kandy era ) සූර්ය මංගල්ලය දොරකඩටම ඇවිදිල්ලා කොහෝ ගීත ගයද්දි ගැමි ලදුන් රබන් ගසමින් අවුරුදු පිළිගන්නයි මේ සූදානම.. සරස් සරස් හඩට පොල් කොල රොත්තක් වට කරගෙන පැදුරක් වියන අත්තම්මා කැවුම් හදන්න එකතු කරගන්නයි අද මේ සූදානම. ගමේ කාටත් ඉතිං උත්සවේකට කැවුම් උයද්දි අත්තම්මව නම් අමතක වෙන්නෙ නෑ. කැවුම් එක්ක ලොකූ අතීතයක් අත්තම්මලාට තියෙනවනේ.. ඇහෙනව නේද රැහැයි හඩ? ඔව් මේ වසන්ත කාලෙ අවුරුදු කාලේ ඇවිල්ලා කියලා මුලින්ම කියන්නෙ එයාලා බව ඔයාට මීට කලින් දැනිලා තියෙනවද. දවල්ට රැහැයියො කෑගහන්නේ ඉතිං මේ වසන්ත කාලෙදිම තමයි. උඩරට කැලෑබද පෙදෙස්වල අපිට ඒ හඩ හරි හුරුයි මේ කාලෙදි නම්. මගේ අප්පච්චි හරීම ආසයි මේ දවල්ට රැහැයියෝ කෑ ගහන කාලෙට. ඒ විතරක්ද.. කොහා නම් නොවැරදීම ඇවිත් හරි ලස්සනට අවුරුදු සිරිය අරගෙනම. ඉදහිට ඇහෙන පහළ ගම්මානේ රබන් හඩ ඒ සිරිය තවත් වැඩි කරනවා. මාලනී නැන්දගෙ රබාන රත් උනාම ඉතිං ගමේම අය දන්නවා ඒ හඩ ඉතිං හංගන්න පුලුවන් දෙයක්‍ නෙවෙයිනේ.. කොහොම කොහොම හරි ඇති හැකි විදියට අවුරුදු සිරිය ගම සොබාදහම පුරාම ගම පුරාම වගේම දැන් දැන් හිත පුරාම පිරිලා ඉතිරිලා. එන්න හැදි කැවුම් උයන ගමන් අත්තම්මගෙන් දිත්තල කාලගෝල කතා අහන්න. කැවුම් හොරු, යක්කු වගේ කැවුම් කතා අහන්න. මේ තමයි ඉතිං ලිප වටේ හැමෝම එකතු වෙන කාලේ.. ආදරණීය ලාංකික ඔබ සැමට සුභම සුභ අලුත් අවුරුද්දක් වේවා ! නීරෝගීකමත් සිතේ සහනයත් මුවගේ සිනහවත් හදවතේ සතුටත් ජීවිතයේ දියුණුවත් මම ඔබ වෙනුවෙන් ප්‍රාර්ථනා කරමි. ( මේ වසන්ත කාලේ රතිඤ්ඤා දාන්න එපා අහස් කූරු යවන්න එපා අහිංසක කුරුලු පොඩ්ඩො කූඩු වල ඉන්නවා වසන්ත කාලෙට තමයි ඒ අය මේ ලෝකෙට එන්නේ . සත්තු හැමෝගෙම අලුත් බබාලා මේ ලෝකෙට එන මේ කාලේ අපි අපේ සතුට වගේම හැම සතෙකුගේම පහසුව වෙනුවෙන් පරිස්සමෙන් අවුරුදු සමරමු.. ආදරණීය මතක් කිරීමක්)

Yes , the song of the Cuckoo / koel bird heralds the arrival of The New Year quite melodeously . And , the melodeous cuckoo song seems to narrate something even more beautiful . Something new now and something new for the 100 th time now are not the same but when both of them are together , - like a granddaughter and her respected grandmother - they narrate a long story - a story of the past hundred years , now in this new year of twenty first century , as your goodself rightly said in your introductory . When the cuckoo repeated the rhythm again and again , it seemed to narrate this beautiful story in this videocast. Like the respected Grandma ' s age - lines of her face & the palm narrating a fairy tale of many many years - making the New Year , even more new ! The grand daughter , snatching & tasting the sakkara honey ' ed flour , the respected Grandma spinning a mat while singing a song for the affectionate granddaughter , the oil cake for the beetles - and the new year drum beats :: are all very very fresh - a hundred years old fresh !! Very traditional. I must comment on the way the two of you are clad in festivel attire + t you have combed your hair back and fastened so strands of hair will not get into the food. Very appropriate. There are some village girls cooking with hair lose and falling over their shoulders while cooking, why? to show off their hair, very inappropriate and unhealthy in a cooking atmosphere. If some one could advise them it will be helpful as it is so important. We know they have beautiful hair, so have them tie up when cooking. Thanks.
