I love rose geranium! My grandmother told me that when she was a little girl on the dry, dusty potato farms in Idaho, her mother used to put a rose geranium leaves in the bottom of the cake pan when she baked a cake. She would pour the cake batter over them, bake it and then remove the leaves when she inverted the cake to a plate. The rose geranium infused the cake with a mild flavor and wonderful fragrance. They would rinse their hair geranium water or tansy water to make it shiny and fragrant too.

Rose geranium is used in lokums, marmelades and jams, liquers and cakes. You can make a tea with it or use it to make scented sugar. Thanks for your wonderful recipes. Greetings from Greece.

Hi I'm Indian living in New Zealand.I love Turkish cuisine, culture and people! I have used rose germanium for many things in kitchen and in many recipes too. I add it in when I make cookies, cakes, pancakes, and jams. I also add it in my sweet version of roti(Indian flat bread) and sweet paratha(layered Indian flat bread) recipes. My mum used to make icecream too using rose germanium.

Hi renu thank you for the informations. That is great you put it to many things. Can you tell me how do you add it to a cookie dough? And for ice cream do you boil together with milk?

You can use Rose Geranium in jams and jellies as a flavor enhancer. Throw a few leaves into your boiling jam. Just remove before packing your jam.

What I like about Turkish breakfast is also the way it is arranged. Even without a prepared meal, the breakfast is still complete. Small bowls are adorable and practical, they look good on table and give the impression of abundance. I love Turkish cuisine style! Regarding breakfast aesthetics in my country, there are no rules for food serving or arranging. You can do it however you like and whatever you like. Anything can be a breakfast in Serbia. Sandwiches, salty pancakes or even cereals with milk, omelette or boiled eggs with bread and ajvar on the side. It is a Serbian delicacy, and you should definitely try it. I am sure that you would love the taste and decide to make it for your family. Afiyet olsun! Görüşürüz! 😀

Wonderful picture of sofra. 👏😍 This is my favorite kind of breakfast, and a favorite style of breakfast, where I can choose between salty and sweet, greasy and light, meat and vegetarian food. I like to switch from one taste to another. Here, in Serbia, grannies and mothers in villages used to put a rose geranium in jars with jam and other sweet products made of fruits, such as quince (dunja). We call it ROZETLA or "rezetluk" in slang. Turkish lifestyle still remains in many villages across my country (especially in West and South East Serbia - around Šabac, Pirot, Vranje). We were under Turks about 500 years, as a part of the Ottoman Empire. Serbian traditional breakfast is eggs, pršuta, cheese (cow, goat, sheep) and bread, but it is very common to eat burek with liquid yogurt, something between ayran and turkish yoğurt. Some people eat sweet breakfast - a slice of bread with butter and jam or honey and white coffee (cafe latte) or black coffee, similar to turkish coffee, almost the same, but in bigger cup and just a bit lighter. We also eat fried bread for breakfast with greasy cheese. İt is never the same, because Serbs like to eat different breakfast every day. We have lots of bakeries in Belgrade and across Serbia, so people buy different products there for breakfast.

Thank you for inviting me into your home for a virtual traditional Turkish breakfast. It looks absolutely amazing and I imagined every individual aroma from each ingredient. Now how I wished I'd traveled to Turkey before Covid19. So now I'll have to find a restaurant that's open for breakfast here in Sydney Australia. Thanks, you did a great job showing and explaining your cultural culinary delights. That tea with a little honey had me.

This is brilliant. I love Turkish breakfast and Turkish cuisine. This is very much similar to traditional Palestinian breakfast except that we don't use sausage or Basterma.
