In the last couple of years this "how dare you" attitude has been contagious and makes dangerous situations where none were before. This driver was immediately hostile and confrontational but seemed to grasp the seriousness of everything the officer explained about the laws. Immaturity lets emotions get the upper hand but both men were good people.

I support my State Troopers to the fullest. However when this Trooper basically referred to recording police as Anti-Police Crap I actually cringed. Civilians recording police isn't against police nor is it illegal. If the Trooper believes that then wouldn't police recording civilians be anti civilian? Let's be real

This went very well was in a similar situation back in the late 70s with my 1973 455 trans am no kids in car but got my ass chewed out by the cop that seen many wrecks that young men got killed in doing the samething I was doing he just didn't want to see that happen to me so I wised up. My cop had a much louder voice and sounded like my dad but it was a good encounter had to take my racing to the track after that

Being honest here, he had ZERO cause to say they were racing. It is one thing if you are going 100mph on the freeway… but in a congested area and only going 45mph or so… no way. Federal courts have ruled that police officers have no expectation of privacy during a traffic stop. You don’t need their consent to record. You cannot be prosecuted for refusing to turn off your camera, but that is the short answer. You can be prosecuted if you interfere with police business or disobey a lawful order. Every Constitutional right has its limits and traffic stops are filled with danger for the police. But it's wise to obey an officer's orders especially if you attempt to reach for a phone. The best way to record the interaction is with a two-way dish cam so that both of your hands are on the steering wheel. Also, say no more than what is required. But be polite but don't waste your time apologizing, these police officers don't give 2 flying f√(k's about how sorry you are, everyone tells them that, and if you are recording the interaction you just admitted you did something wrong.

As an ex police officer, I can tell you that your attitude when I walked up to your window definitely plays a large part in whether you got cited or a warning. Respectful and courteous would usually get you off with a warning, depending on the severity of the offense. Combative and argumentative got you cited. Be Respectful. You have no idea what the officer coming up to you goes through every day. If the area you live has a ride along program, try it once and see how their day is spent, and the people they have to deal with.
