There are many great musical artists who have brought countless hits to the masses over the years. However, there is only one artist who can translate sorrow, tribulation, and anguish into beautiful words and sound, and that artist is Johnny Cash. Cash’s distinct brand of music is often associated with rebelliousness and a somber mood. His trademark all-black stage wardrobe earned him the nickname, “The Man In Black.” The stories Cash told in his music had parallels to his own life. Life imitated art in the case of Johnny Cash and these are the tragic details about the legendary genre-spanning musical legend.

Johnny Cash is a story of America. No one has or ever will write or sing music like he did . He was a genius with a simple writing that was deep and touched your soul. Deeply religious and deeply flawed . He was in love so deeply with June .One of the greatest love stories in our century. He treated June with the love , respect and admiration every man should treat a woman with. He is a true American story.

I was in love with John in the 60s and 70s, he was so handsome, charming and virile, not to mention such a talented musician...just made my heart jump up and down ❤️ In the years to come after that I read The Man In Black and learned more elsewhere of the struggles, sadness, trials and tribulations of John’s life. Saw the movie too, found it depressing. No wonder he looked so old and worn out when only in his early 70s, today that is no great age. The loss of June finished him off, I believe. R.I.P., my hero. I pray that he and “June Bug” are young and happy again in blissful eternity, in each other’s arms forevermore.

@AShroudOfTruth
@AShroudOfTruth 2 жыл бұрын
Not accurate at all. Walk the Line song was written for his first wife Vivian, whom he called Viv. Ironic they'd use this song as the movie title. It was a love song to her and an oath that he would forever remain faithful to her. Which of course was a promise he'd eventually end up breaking, not to mention her heart. Documentary called 'My Darling Vivian' tells the story.
@dill2962

@@AShroudOfTruth June Carter wrote that song
@AShroudOfTruth
@AShroudOfTruth 2 жыл бұрын
@@dill2962 No she didn't, Cash wrote that song for his wife Vivian who he was deeply in-love with at the time, and 'before' he met June. "I Walk the Line" was recorded in 1956. He didn't even know June then, they didn't start touring together until 1963, which was when their affair began. I think you're referring to 'Ring of Fire' which Johnny wrote but told his wife Vivian that he was going to give June Carter half credit for the song because she needed the money, and he 'felt bad for her', but guess he ended up giving her all the credit. His wife was with him when he wrote both.

fjordike must be nice to live a perfect life such as yourself. People who throw stones should remember what Jesus said to the woman who was being stoned for adultery. After Jesus wrote in the sand, as her accusers dropped their stones and left. Personally I think Jesus was writing their sins down as a reminder, we all sin. But God is merciful. No doubt Johnny sinned but he did turn his life over to Christ LATER!

@@fjordike that's a price you have to pay when your a musician. And he didn't leave his wife and kids, his wife left him and took the kids with her. The day you are a talented singer and have sold 90 million albums is the day you will be able to judge.

There are three singers who go beyond being legends. They are Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and Tony Bennett. If there was a Mt. Rushmore for musicians they would be on it. I love all three of them. They really shaped the music world.

Johnny Cash will always hold a special place in my heart. My daddy was a huge fan of his. Every time I hear a Johnny Cash song play it takes me back to my daddy playing the guitar and singing Johnny Cash's songs. I have no doubt they are in heaven together playing some dueling guitars in heaven. R I P Johnny Cash

My Grandfather who I called Papa introduced me to Cash's music when I was a kid. I would go visit on Saturdays. The Grand Old Opry, Austin City Limits, or Hee Haw would consume our afternoons. My Papa was a big Johnny Cash fan. I lost him in 1996. So when Cash passed away in 2003. We lost a music icon, and I was double saddened while remembering good memories.

The video for "Hurt" was, if I recall correctly, the last time that June Carter Cash appeared in a performance prior to her death. Also, the museum shown in the video burned to the ground five years after his passing. The American Recordings were a hell of a comeback prior to his death.

Actually, part of the Hurt video was filmed in Johnny Cash’s home in Hendersonville, Tennessee (such as the table banquet scenes, June looking down from the stairs, and Johnny at the piano). This home was sold to Barry Gibb (singer with The Bee Gees) after Johnny died but it burnt down accidentally in 2007 (while being renovated) before Gibb could move in to it. The House of Cash museum, where other parts of the Hurt video was filmed, had been closed for many years prior to Johnny’s death but did not burn down - that building was also eventually sold after Johnny’s death.

Johnny cash sang a song with his daughter Rosanne. Rosanne came up with the lyrics and asked him if he wanted to do it with her. He wanted to read the lyrics first. He read it and immediately said yes. It's called September when it comes. Cash died in september...

Johnny Cash was the Greatest C&W guy ever, OK he had some problems but , millions respect him for his good side, the other side of Johnny was his and his alone. He had a strong Woman as a wife, who must have been angel to even think of sticking by her man. May they both Rest In Peace. Thank you for an excellent reflection of the life of an amazing man.

Years ago when I lived in Marin County California Johnny Played at a festival with his group and I threw a cassette tape of 3 original novelty songs and he picked it up ! And some kids I knew were there and were thrilled that he picked it up! Hope I didn’t hurt his back picking it up. One of the songs Ray Stevens liked that my father wrote the words to called The Hypnotist, about a guy trying to hypnotize girls and takes her home and when he finds she took his furniture when he got home. Gregg Allman of the ABB was dating a girl called Rachel and he drove to my house where she rented a unit in back of my house. She told me to go meet Greg and I told him my dad n I wrote a tune that Ray Stevens liked n Greg said “You can take that to the bank’. Later Gregg talked to me over the phone where he was playing at the Lolapaluza festival and wanted to go over the songs with me. I think the greatest thrill though was seeing JC walk off the stage with my cassette tape! So as to other musician-entertainers I would like to see you do would be Gregg Allman n Ray Stevens!
