Trail Buddy speedometer - first impression

4 ай бұрынI was looking for a better aftermarket CT70K0 style speedo. I saw Trail Buddy post a video on their TB601 and decided to give it a look. First impression……I like it. The speedo seems to be accurate within 1 mph or so. The odometer seems inaccurate, after one run. I’ll definitely test odometer on future longer runs. Speedo fit bucket well, it looks good and the installation was simple.

the thumbnail got me seeing that ct70 4spd dial and low miles but then I realized it was a reproduction those ct70 4spd units are rare and expensive for the originals I have been collecting these speedos for ct70/z50 thanks for another great video

Depending upon sample rate and the “tightness” of satellite signal and/or GPS reciever, GPS odometers get confused during accel, decel, in tight turns and especially 180s. You might just compare the two on a straight line drive for a better indication of accuracy.

The odometer is definitely off. I’m 99% sure it’s reading in Kilometers. When I started, the odometer was between .3 and .4. My GPS odometer said I rode 1.44 miles, which I feel is accurate. 1.44 miles equals 2.317 kilometers. So, having it read between 2.6 and 2.7 would be accurate for kilometers.

Thanks. I’m sure they’ll sell a bunch of those frames and 90% of the guys that buy them, will never ride their bike long enough distance to need the extra capacity. 🤣

The odometer might still be registering in km. Possibly what they did is just put a mph face on the dial. With the speedo reading slightly high, converting the odo to km from 2.7 miles gives you 1.67 miles. A little high compared to your GPS, but in line with the speedo being slightly high. I guess you would need even larger tires to get this speedo exactly right.

Yes, I’ve already mentioned that the odometer is in kilometers. My GPS registered 1.44miles, which equals 2.317kilometers. Add the .3+ that was already on the odometer and now it has 2.6+. The speedo is definitely in MPH.

🛑🛑 Mike…I have that speedometer, which I like very much; however I have a problem with it…. When I turn on the right turn signal the indicator works and the turn signal works “slowly”…. But when I turn on the left turn signal, the indicator does not turn on, and the turn signal flash’s quickly. Do you have any ideas, as to what’s going on?

check your wiring maybe? ground leak or a bad indicator

@@mattymo8512 Every once in a while the right turn signal (which normally works fine) doesn’t light up the indicator on the Speedo, and flash’s the turn signal quickly. Then sometimes it works normally again. 🤷♂️
