Trail cameras: Are you using the right SD card?

Surprisingly few people understand the importance of using the correct SD card in their trail camera or video camera. Here I go through the important explanation of what each symbol on SD cards mean and how knowing this can help you use the right card for what you are trying to accomplishing in your scouting cameras and also in your filming hunts.

VERY helpful! I pulled the card out of my trail cam and it's not even a video card. No wonder it's "eh"!!!! Just ordered the correct card. THANK YOU!!! :)

I 100% agree with not buying the cards right next to the trail cameras. The money they charge for those “trail camera” specific ones insane. The ones I buy are the 32gb Class 10 SanDisk ImageMate cards for like $6-$7 at Walmart. They work just great for me.

I thought I knew a little about SD cards, I appreciate this video, I learned more. Also explains why my drone video sometimes isn't up to par, I'm using Ultra instead of Extreme. Thanks again.

Thanks for the information and you made it very easy to understand! Even the reason for using a better suited sd card I always thought a card was a card and made no difference but learned something new to day! 😉

Sandisk Sony or Lexar are the three to look at. Buy local if you can too.

In your presatation you forgot to mention the two different SD cards. The SDHC and the SDXC. What is the difference?

Format and check for bad sectors on a computer before formatting in the camera. Trail cams format options are extremely basic.

Be careful when buying SD cards. Some are fake Chinese knock offs.You can't tell by the packaging alone. Same for AA batteries for your trail cameras.

STAY AWAY FROM STEALTH CAM SET UP IS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE WISH I WOULD HAVE SPENT THE EXTRA MONEY AND WENT WITH EXUDUS OR COVERT !!!!!!

Mine was simple with Stealth cam I use 32 gb sandisk extreme pro in all of them. And have over 100 trail cameras for security and 20 of them are Stealth cam and they are by far the best. And the Stealth Cam has lasted the longest I got 8 of them that are 10 years old faded bad and still working like new. All my cameras are different types & low glow & no glow & some cellular.

Wow wasn't expecting that response, I order off Amazon A LOT, partly because they donate some of my money to the charity of my choice. I suppose you have a problem with the other website I mentioned.
