Trailer hitch, hitch riser, bike racks, and ground clearance on a 2013 Tesla Model S

This video shows you various options for using a trailer hitch and bike racks on your Tesla Model S, including measurements for ground clearance to the bottom of the trailer hitch, to the bottom of the bike rack, and to the bottom of the bike tires. This video also shows in-motion clearance when driving over dips in the road with a bike rack and bikes mounted on the trailer hitch.
The trailer hitch shown in this video is a Torklift Ecohitch Stealth for the 2012-2021 Tesla Model S, item no. X7201, installed on our 2013 Tesla Model S with standard coil suspension.
I install a Maxxhaul 50397 Trailer Hitch Riser to the Ecohitch, and then show its use with a Maxxhaul 50025 Hitch Mount 2-Bike Rack and with a Yakima FullTilt Tilting Hitch 5-Bike Rack.
I also show various combinations of bikes mounted on the bike racks, with and without Yakima TubeTop bars, to give you a sense of how to mount your bikes and to ensure the largest tire-to-ground clearance for the bikes on the rack.

This is all shown on a 2013 Tesla Model S 85, built in late August 2013, VIN P20,xxx, with about 104,000 miles on it as of the time of this video.

Excelente, bien explicado, yo lo tengo montado en una Traker 2022 y por seguridad le puse un aumento (altura), así no pegan las ruedas o parte del rack en el piso.... MAXXHAUL 50025 para 2 bicicletas...y con unas cintas de velcro amarro las ruedas para que no se estén moviendo y para que no "campaneen" uso un cordel que hice y las amarro de la barra central del rack, así llevo mis 2 bicicletas en viajes de mas de 400 km de carretera...

I've got a question for you. I want to get a hitch riser like yours for my 2022 Toyota Corolla. I am mostly going to be using it with a cargo rack attachment for camping so will it matter as far as weight or anything like that?

@mikeandre9027: There might be a reduction in the max weight permitted on the hitch but I’m not sure because it didn’t affect my use for just bikes. Check the link to the hitch riser in the description below my video-it might provide the specifications.

@brendandove4312: Still going well, although I will only use it locally and not on long trips. Max # of bikes if using the Yakima rack is 5 but I would never do that - even with the hitch riser it is just too low for the standard suspension. Max # bikes if using the Maxhaul rack is 2. Again, with people in the car and gear, the rack just sits very low….

Put the hitch tightener plate at the bottom of the hitch like it should be anyway

No. I put it on the top at around 6:36 because if I had put it on the bottom then the U-bolt and nuts would be extending downward toward the ground and further reduce ground clearance. The bottom of that hitch is already so close to the ground that I don’t want to risk a bump or scrape along the road, shaving off or damaging the U-bolt or nuts. It works perfectly fine in the orientation shown in the video and avoids anything sticking down below the bottom of the hitch mount itself.
