Trailer for my upcoming youtube video, Kylo Ren The Most Wasted character in Star Wars. In the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, we have seen some wasted character potential in how the writers JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kaden structured the story. Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren/Ben Solo all had amazing backstories that should have been included in the films. In this video essay, we'll explore Kylo Ren, one of the most wasted characters in film history.

They should have made Rey the villain. Since she is the granddaughter of Palpatine. Would have been a more interesting story to see a powerful female Sith who goes undercover to infiltrate Luke's Jedi Academy. Then ends up betraying Luke and killing him. So Kylo has to chase her across the galaxy and fight her and get revenge. At least that way it wouldn't matter that Rey is overpowered. And it would have been a good way to show an emotional death for Luke, and him passing on the torch to Kylo.

Especially with her backstory. I did a long vid on that and her story is so tragic she totally "should" have turned out evil.

That not a bad one, honestly. Alternatively, they could have gone with, during the showdown with Snoke, her tapping into the darkside in desperation and wrecking him, leaving him trembling in fear, before finishing him offscreen with swift cruelty that would Kylo in utter shock. Instead of the guards trying to fight them, they would just bow before her might. This would inspire her to think that maybe she *should* just rule the galaxy with that revelation accompanied a sinister expression that would genuinely terrify Kylo, who would instinctively try to attack her without thinking, mirroring what Luke had done to him previously. It would promptly cut away to Rey walking up to La Resistance as they're starting flee with her holding Kylo's unconscious body in the air with the force, tossing him below Leia's feet. To Rey's shock and irritation, rather than getting approval, Leia and the rest instead looks at her with contempt. In a fit of anger, she would toss Kylo to Leia's feet and leave to assume the role of Supreme Leader of the First Order. That would have set up a helluva great 3rd movie and really helped cancel how convenient her overpoweredness had been thus far. Suddenly, Rey goes from naive puppy serving whoever she thinks is right to *the* most dangerous person in the galaxy and all that comes with that shift in the paradigm. It could even come with the revelation that Kylo was sent by Luke, Han, and Leia to infiltrate the First Order in order to get close to Snoke and take him and the organization down from the inside, which would explain all of Kylo's conflicted feelings, why he killed Han, and why Luke would have "turned" on his own nephew like that.

I don't think it was a good idea to make the only child from han and leia evil. It is basicly telling us that this love story was cursed and never should have happened. If leia and han have never fallen in love, would the universe be in a better state? Maybe kylo somehow returns as a love interest in the new rey movie to appeal to the reylos.

Plus their kid ruined their marriage. Kylo decimated the Galaxy and ruined the lives of I guess really all the beloved iconic characters.

You didn't say anything about this last night during the podcast you sneaky sith simp! You already know I cant wait to watch this. Edit: I just realized Kylo, Rey and Fin are all competing for this position. Man that's how you know it's a bad trilogy.

Honestly I think Kylo Ren/Ben solo should had stay as a Jedi because if anyone knew the story of Anakin/Darth Vader the power of the dark side is bullshit.

@@DarthdYT I seen fan art of him as a jedi he looks really cool with a green crossguard lightsaber and a blaster plus he has a beard he was mixture of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker.

The whole character was a waste of time, and you felt tht that was a deliberate choice on the part of the movie-makers to glorify Rey - making him her 'inferior' opposite!!

I don't think it really has anything to do with Rey. Not fully utilizing his backstory feels more like amateur and/or rushed writing.

Honestly don't know enough about Caedus. Didn't get up to that point in the books although I want to one day.

If ask me it Darth Caedus due to his experience in the Yuuzhan Vong war and his skills in the force Kylo Ren doesn’t stand a chance looking at the movies Kylo lost three times to inexperienced force user so he not really a threat.

@@jaieregilmore971 well, Kylo Ren was fighting against Mary Sue plot armored character and survived more than 1 minute, so i dont think he doesnt have chance against Caedus, but you right, Caedus have better chances thanks to Yuuzhan vongs

I have always felt bad for the character and the actor. His weapon and look were both amazing, when he used the force it was impressive but that was it. So your a Sith, that is cool, like to see some more badass Sith. His back story and lineage did nothing for me as it felt tacked on. Honestly he would have been a better character if they kept that a mystery until the third movie in the trilogy. leave us wondering who he was and why did he have so much hate and conflict within him.

Yeah, Adam Driver should have been given proper compensation for all the back pain he suffered from trying to carry that trilogy.
