Well done video. I used to change tires in a gas station when I was younger (with a machine of course) Just a thought: One could use a a could blocks of wood (a large base, 4x4 piece of (for inside the rim,) a 2 x 4 on top as a sandwich (run through with bolt to hold the wheel still would increase one's leverage since wouldn't have to mess with the wheel moving about. I imagine one construct something relatively cheaply (otherwise buy the HFT tire changer :) ).

The way some new tires are stacked / wrapped they aren't quite the full width of the wheel. How do you get them to the shape that allows the tire to bead out and hold that first fill of air?

Nice video. That's about the way i do it for a long time now. Was browsing around to see if there's any better way for breaking these stiff tires lose with around the house tools lol.

Question. I have bent axle and wearing the inside of the tire. Can I unmount the tire and turn it and remount it,? Thank you
@homesteadprepper Жыл бұрын
I would recommend that you either repair or replace your axle.

So there is no need to balance a trailer's wheel after a new tire is put on the rim? Just check.
@homesteadprepper4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter so much on a trialer like it would your car. But, if you really wanted to do it right, then by all means balance 'em.

Is it possible to cut the tire off or would it be just as painful?
@BrowerBandit7 жыл бұрын
most tires are steel belted, so a sawzall will do just fine.
@jasonmushersee9 жыл бұрын
Its good practice to do some by hand like this because if you have to do a big tractor tire it's all by hand.

Actual time it took to change them out?
@homesteadprepper9 жыл бұрын
MrJAYCRASH It was done over the course of several afternoons @4hrs. It always takes longer to try to make a video(out takes) while you are trying to get the key points in the vid.

@@homesteadprepper I'll do my own brakes, all fluids radiator change tune up full coils But I'd rather by the best oil and filter and best tires high grade for $115 and have a shop or tire man put them on for $47 Or oil change and filter your $130 change for $20 Time is worth more than $100 in a greasy messy 8hr Also I'd like to see how new rims turn out scratched or not Those were spray painted steel which doesn't technically qualify to be a rim

@homesteadprepper4 жыл бұрын
You may have to borrow a tire cheetah.
@900stx74 жыл бұрын
I've watched videos where starter fluid was used. Spray it inside the tire then light it. One quick woosh and the bead is set. Just be careful.
@matthewfarris93073 жыл бұрын
I've found that when you have a difficult bead you can stand the tire up and whack on the tread area with your hand while airing it up and sometimes that does it. Other times I've placed a ratchet strap around it and tighten down some then air it up.
