Trailmater Offroad Recovery

Жыл бұрын

A mash-up of random recoveries over the summer. One in the snow the day after rescuing the adventure Bikes, another on Poison Spider Trail, and another one on the mountain of a jeep with a bad starter. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

I love how natural your videos are like you don't have constant background music or try to act like this is a t.v. show! It's just a regular blue collar hard working guy doing what he does. No frills no b.s. just a man working to support his people. You're a great example of what a non pretentious blue collar man should be. Good on you👍

That first jeep was the color of my 1989 Wrangler. His name was Brewster, and he met a sad end. Hit a metal grate bridge over the bay in a wind storm coming out of Atlantic City. It had just drizzled, not rain, which would have washed the oils off the road. Wind sent me and Brewster across the lanes, no brakes, no steering, it was like ice, full speed into the concrete railing that almost failed. Truck went vertical, almost over backwards, before coming down. Passenger side was crushed, dash up to the seat. No one was hurt. Cops thanked me for wearing my seatbelt... oh Brewster, you were a good buddy while it lasted!

you guys are the absolute luckiest people I have ever seen driving things of any kind with 5 lug axles. After years of recoveries in my mind the only thing five lug axles are good for is income for the shops and beach cruising. I cannot tell you how many adventures I did not go one for I did not want to spend hours in one spot due to broken rigs. Keep up the good work and love the videos. Well there is a guy in Rio Rancho New Mexico making 9 inch ford fronts with super 60 axles and knuckles. I trust those yet they end up 8 lug anyway.

I loved my land rover defenders and discovery 1 and 2s. Not a lot of wheeling opportunities in Scotland except a few pay to play sites or organised runs which are usually easy forest or estate tracks. The vehicles were very capable and after a couple of mods almost unstoppable. Rust kills them though and the new ones are full of tech wizardry that always breaks.

@@GavinEarnshaw Thanks for that recommendation. Wasn't aware of his channel but I am now. Seems an eccentric interesting English man. When my Disco 2 chassis disappeared due to rust I looked at 3s which were terribly unreliable and expensive to repair. 4s were supposedly bombproof as all the glitches had been worked out but that meant they were in demand and expensive to buy. Sports, 5s, RR all models and the new defender are way out my price range and have terrible reps for unreliability. I haven't met a single owner who hasn't had a fault.

@@graememckay9972 I'd disagree with you're assessment re: 3 and 4; The V8 3 is probably the most reliable disco built. Doesn't have the timing chain worries of the 4 and generally doesn't need a lot. Mine has 150K HARD (as in Rubicon trail) miles and not so much as a gasket changed on the engine. Sure the air suspension can be troublesome but for the most part it's easy enough to deal with. I have realized it's just never going to be a proper crawler and use a D1 for that work now, and I just picked up a '10 L322 supercharged RR to replace the 3 for the moderate trails and overland use, though I'm shocked how much smaller it is than the 3. But you know...hard to turn you nose up at 510 hp. I'd actually put the D2 as the low-point of Disco history; so many head gasket issues plus you loose the full float axles, gain the longer (worse clearance) rear end that hits everything, and don't even get the CDL on some models as they seemed to think the TC was going to somehow be all you'd need. As for rust, well I'm in California now so that's not really a thing though I'm shocked at what people back east or in England will put up with in that department.

What a hoot that was . I got to admit scared the crap out of me a couple times 🤪🤣😂🙏. In her early forties now and a good driver but not an off-roader.
