In this in-depth Trails of the Grand Canyon guide, see for yourself what all the fuss is about, and why if you're going to take on one trail in the Grand Canyon, the stunning South Kaibab is the one.

Brian, great video! I worked with your brother and you at TPC back in the day and have bumped into you on Black Mtn a time or two. Your television experience really shows. Thanks for putting this series of videos together, I am getting curious about R2R2R so that’s how I came across your videos. Take care!

Thanks, Ben! Be sure to check out The Grand Canyon Hiker Dude Show podcast on Apple or Spotify; tons of stuff on R2R2R. You live in AZ, so do it in November! Trust me on that one. Always here to help if you need anything. 👊

Great video! I'm 66, my first hike in the Grand Canyon I went rim2rim, down the South Kaibab and up the North Kaibab. This was 2.5 months ago. The last 5miles were very tough, but I'm so glad I gave it a go :).

Go for it! I did it in November; super hard but obviously doable. I did a two-part podcast of the whole experience; you can find it at The Grand Canyon Hiker Dude Show wherever you get podcasts if you’re interested. Let me know if I can help in any way. 👊😊

I really enjoyed this video. Your idea about taking a taxi was really good. I am planning on going to Skeleton Point and back in April, your idea about going three more switchbacks to a fantastic view was a good one and I will definitely consider doing that. It was a shame that it was overcast when you were at that viewpoint because the colours were muted.

After all the videos on the hikes in Grand canyon, this hike definitely looks the best. I'm planning to go hike down to PR then up Bright Angel. Hopefully by the end of the month.

Awesome! It is incredible. If you don't know, Bright Angel is closed until 4/15/24 for the waterline project, so down and up SK is the only option until then.

Thanks for the amazing guide!! Can’t wait to be hiking out there! You didn’t encounter any mountain lions coyotes rattlesnakes or any danger while hiking the canyon in general?
@GrandCanyonHikerDude
@GrandCanyonHikerDude 8 ай бұрын
Thank you! I’ve encountered one rattler on Tonto, but it wanted less to do with me than I did it. You do hear about mountain lions from time to time, but more in the remote areas rather than the main trails. The corridor trails are generally safe; they are heavily traveled and you’re rarely alone for long. It’s just the coolest place imaginable to hike. Hope you get there soon!

Cool video. How much water is recommend to hike up South Kaibab?
@GrandCanyonHikerDude
@GrandCanyonHikerDude 4 ай бұрын
I would say two liters in the cooler months, and I personally stay off SK in the warmer months (unless I'm hiking out in the dark) because it's too dangerous with the exposure and no water availability. Bright Angel offers those safety nets that SK doesn't.
