Hi everyone! It's been two weeks since the last video, so time for a new one. This time a short video. As a lot of you know I got infected with corona two weeks ago. This caused the fact I couldn't work for almost two weeks. So I havent got the time to record a fresh video. Since last Wednesday I'm back at the job and I also found some time to create this short video for you. A little bit back in time because I had to dig into my history. I hope you like it.
BTW: I'm doing fine now. Still a bit tired after work. But I'll be fine. It's time for a four day weekend now before getting into a serie of night shifts next week. I'll be back on Instagram with new stories as of next week as well. And if you like you can have a look back at my holidays. Check it out on: / machiniststefan
Alright. Let do this short ride from Utrecht to Rhenen. On request of a few of you I choose this route.
0:00 Utrecht Centraal
We start the ride at Utrecht. The morning of the recording I started with another sprinter with the ride Amsterdam - Uitgeest and from there back to Amsterdam and Utrecht. After a short break I continued with the drive of the recording. Let's head towards Rhenen!
1:37 Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn
Right after departure from this station you can see the tracks bending to the right for the Geldermalsen direction. A few years ago a dive-under was build here so trains can cross each others paths without waiting.
5:30 Bunnik
After Bunnik a maximum speed of 80km/h because the cross over a bit further on the route will be activated after departure. If we would speed up to 140km/h directly we would reach the cross over too soon.
9:22 Driebergen-Zeist
A few years ago this station was completely renovated. Still looks awesome if you ask me.
15:02 Maarn Goederen + Maarn
Just before Maarn station you can see the shunting yard Maarn Goederen. A few video's ago we changed direction at this location while shunting in the Utrecht area.
21:02 Turning to the Right
Let's take a right turn here for the Veenendaal and Rhenen direction. Because of the right turn we must slow down to 80km/h. The maximum speed allowed for the junction at that location.
24:22 Veenendaal West
A short stop at Veenendaal West. For the sharpies under us. The safety system of the train doesn't allow a higher speed than 40km/h on departure. At the moment we pass the signal with the yellow-6 the higher speed of 60km/h is allowed. Not a very common situation on the Dutch tracks. But this is how it works in Veenendaal West.
27:59 Veenendaal Centrum
A short stop at this station while waiting for the train from the opposite direction. After departure the line will be single-tracked until the final stop.
35:24 Rhenen
Final stop for this train. In the past this line was connected with Kesteren. Look up the history on Google if you like.
I hope you have enjoyed this short video from my archive. I'll try to get a fresh new video online in two weeks again. Let's hope everything will go as planned. :D I wish you all a blessed weekend for now! Cheers!
