We take a leisurely freight train from Castle Douglas to Creetown in the West of Scotland. In charge is a green Class 37.
This beautiful line and all of the associated scenes has been completely obliterated from the landscape.
The entire area is entirely devoid of any rail transport. Bus replacement services(guaranteed under the closure notice) has gone and communities have had their economies decimated.
At least we can watch and enjoy a snapshot from the past. But that is all it is.
We can afford to waste hundreds of billions of pounds duplicating existing routes with HS2, but there's no money for local rail services or even for subsided buses!!!!
Maybe if the west of Scotland was near London then this line would still be open.
