My favorite thing about speedy locomotives is when they go in complete emergency brake where the pistons stop moving and the shearing voice of the brakes coming. It is just so fascinating.

I think this test is more a demonstration of the shockingly bad coding of this game. Someone needs to make a train simulator game that actually runs off physics simulation rather than this shoddy game engine

THAT RACE WAS EPIC!! THAT RACE WAS EPIC!! SERIOUSLY: when you started dead last I thought for certain that you'd already lost, especially seeing how Big Boy and Challenger were going (my pick was the streamlined Daylight, btw). When it got to the point that you were flying in the lead and I saw the highest possible top speed was 200 mph, I was going HOLY CRAP BOYS!! WHHOOOOO!!! =D That was perhaps the coolest steam race I had ever seen. Now just make sure you pay attention to when you approach the end of the line. Don't want to end up like Timothy... ;)

i have rode on the up844 for 200miles from the up steam shops to denver CO. and back and i thought i would tell you my friends name is Ed Dickens he is one of the enginers on the 844 and is also over the UP Steam shops and if i remember right Ed has had the 844 up to a hundred mhp. him self.He is a really awsome ,Man

The Daylight is designed for passenger pulling so it can get up to speed fairly quickly and maintain it. Its actual name is GS4 with wheel classification 4-8-4.

The Union Pacific 844 is actually known as an f e f 3 was built as a passenger engine to go 110 miles an hour continuously there was actually one occurrence in the 1940s where an fear went 124 miles per hour

The fastest I've been able to sustain a FEF-3 at maximum power on the relatively flat tracks of the Northeast Corridor map is 137.5 MPH with no other cars and 107.5 MPH with the 16 passenger car consist.

0:56 For your information, that black locomotive is called the Nickel Plate Road series of steam locomotives, and they are popular in the northern U.S. There are many of these locos, including 765, 767, and a whole lot more, but most of these locomotives have either been retired or scrapped.

Daylight has a top speed of 105 mph from what I know and it's my favorite train. I have a 15 year old ho model of it, and the little Jupiter has a top speed of 60 mph. I have an hour model of the Jupiter also. They're two of my top 5 favorite locomotives ever!

The first locomotive aside from the smallest one is a Nickel Plate Road 765 Berkshire (albeit renumbered 745 here) Basically, the engine is a sibling of the Pere Marquette 1225 aka Polar Express.

The small locomotive is called a American Standard. Started at around 50 hp. Last of them of this type produced around 500 hp! If you need more information on our locomotives. Try steamlocomotive.com . It has lots of info on nearly all engines.

844's Class Can Do Up To 110MPH In Real Life.

NYMR Pacific The FEF-3s were actually balanced for up to 120 mph. That was their design limit, though according to ALCO, which built them, the theoretical top speed on paper is 130 mph. Of course that will never be proven, but it is true that the FEF-3s were very much capable of 120 mph. That being said, most crews seemed to prefer to cruise around the 110 mark you mentioned, some venturing to 115 mph if particularly behind schedule.

the train next to the 63 leviathan in a Nickel-plate 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type locomotive. Which was built by Lima locomotive works in 1944 and was rebuilt from 2000-2006 and was retired in 1963.

Union Pacific 844 and 4014 are preserved and even used by union Pacific today. There's actually a video of 4014 pushing a stalled freight while pulling it's own train on you tube

the one you didn't know is the Lima Berkshire locomotive its a 2-8-4 locomotive that notably was used by the Pere Marquette railway a notable engine of the class was the Pere Marquette 1225 (aka the Polar express) more info is available on wikipedia or other sites

eh, i think it was more notably used on the New York, Chicago, and St. Louis Railroad, or the Nickel Plate Road as it was more well known

My favorite steam locomotive is the Pere Marquette/nickel plate road :D The Pere Marquette is actually the base of the polar express in case if some of you did not know that :)
