Train Simulator - Route Learning: London Blackfriars to Swanley (Class 700) // 1440p

2 жыл бұрынWelcome back to my channel once again, after a hiatus of a year or so! In this video, we take a look at the DTG Class 700 with the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 700 EP on a journey along the recently extended Chatham Main Line within Train Simulator. Operating train 9Y13, the 08:16 Thameslink service from London Blackfriars to Sevenoaks, we drive as far as Swanley which is as far as this journey is currently modelled in TS. Stops along the way include Elephant & Castle, Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye, Nunhead, Crofton Park, Catford, Bellingham, Beckenham Hill, Ravensbourne, Shortlands, Bromley South, Bickley, St Mary Cray, and Swanley.

Notes for this video: 1. Apologies that I didn't realise the mouse cursor was showing in some clips until it was too late! I've always ticked the option to hide the mouse cursor in my recording software, but it seems in the year since I last used it, it defaulted to showing the mouse cursor once again. It's already turned off ready for the next video! 2. The picture here seems slightly darker than what I was seeing in recording, again I will try and adjust the brightness for the next video. 3. I forgot to mention using the F7/F8 keys to change the destination display on the train before departing Blackfriars, and you may see some external shots of the train with the destination display missing, and some with it present due to the way I record these videos. 4. It's good to be back. I hope you enjoy this video! :)

Peter, i have the same issue with the video being darker on YT than it is when i see it on my computer's folders, if that makes sense. This happened to two videos, one of which is unlisted, even if they went thru an editing software or not. What causes it? Its very annoying so let us know if theres a solution to it.

Strangely, my videos come out lighter. Granted, my gaming screen is low brightness intentionally. Surely that is related for me. Maybe your screen is too bright?

What a wonderful surprise to see you back! And operating a service and route I'm *very* familiar with - Swanley is my home station, and I know both this route, the stations and the Class 700 trains rather well! Great to hear life is treating you well, and congrats on the job offer - must be a bit of a dream come true 😊

I'm going through a bit of a Thameslink binge at the moment, with AP's 700 EP and Danny's merge making Bedford-Brighton and Luton to Orpington possible. So I enjoyed the video, and well done on receiving that job offer :)

Congratulations on your new job and I wish you all the best with it. I think the idea of a tunnel vision type unit to drive is it less distracting to the driver and they can concentrate on the signs and signals easier

Nice to see you back, congrats on the job and welcome to the railway family. Some suggestions based on real life, For DRA, ideally you would not reset it until you are at the point ready to depart after closing the doors, so check signal close doors, check signal reset DRA and depart. When you take over a train for the first time you reach 25 or 30mph always best to do a running brake test by dropping your speed by 10mph in order to check that initial/step 1 braking is in good working order and to show you how good your train will brake :)

Great commentary and you should be an announcer. You voice is clear and distinct. One negative comment: the angle of the sun made the ground area very dark.

Welcome the heck back. Some interesting stuff out there. I know you are not taking requests, but any of the three routes in the TSC package (one new extension to Leipzig, two,with route updates) would be welcome if you are inspired by and have those. We are about due for a new route, I would imagine, as well. Congrats on the railway job, too; possible real journeys in the future?

Hello, in the Thameslink 700s your stopping points are marked by the diamonds on the platforms rather than the conventional n-car stop signs-for a RLU it's the RLU diamond or the ALL diamond. Welcome back to KZfaq!

Can't Remember what Rlu means but the number means how many carriages long the train is.

It stands for “reduced length unit” in which the 700/0 are 8 coaches. 700/1 are 12 coaches so they are classed as FLU’s “full length unit”.

Great commentary and run along the Chatham line. Question, what are your current graphics settings in Train Simulator. It has an interesting and smooth motion blur effect.

I’ve got everything set to maximum, running in 2560x1440 resolution with 2x2 antialiasing. I think the motion blur is added by the editing software Vegas Pro during the rendering process.

I think you mean Pete, not Paul haha ;) And thank you! I’m currently running with an Intel Core i9 10900K, 16gb RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3070. Graphics are set to 2560x1440 with 2x2 antialiasing. I often get 60fps or more, but it’s not consistent so I usually record in 30fps. I could also run in 4K, but find it makes TS less stable overall.

@@PTGRail I have an older Alienware aurora with Intel i7-6700, 850w PSU, 16gb ddr4 ram, Radeon RX480 for gfx. Stuck an SSD drive in it recently too. I have been looking at going back to Nvidia for the RTX 3080 and maybe a motherboard upgrade but I'm really not too sure. Have done a fair bit of beta testing work with DTG so about time I look at a system upgrade, me thinks.

I currently work at EOC in Waterloo as an ECC! I haven't handed in my notice yet as Network Rail haven't been able to give me a start date, so I'm still working for LAS at present. It's good to meet a fellow colleague here! :)
