Train switching Gerdau Industrial Metals Recycling on Dawson road in Guelph, Ontario

In this video we catch a CN train coming back from switching Westrock formerly (Smurfit-MBI) about a mile down the tracks arriving at Gerdau Industrial Metals Recycling on Dawson Road.
This train reverses into the Gerdau siding to pick up a gandola car before quickly heading back to the Guelph Subdivision mainline.
Location: Dawson Road in Guelph, Ontario

I have been slowly adding more content in this area. So I'm glad to hear you like it. I find these videos take much more time to make, but a nice alternative from the usual stuff you seen on this channel. I hope have another couple done by the end of 2023.

It's interesting how the diesel locomotives stopped at the railroad crossing instead of crossing over it considering the fact several freight cars needed to be coupled up first.

It seem like they had enough room to stop before the crossing and back in. However I though it was strange they back up a short distance after flipping the switch before heading off. Not sure the reasoning was behind that.

Great footage of these behind the scenes moves on the siding. I'm pretty sure that GMTX 2255 (and maybe 2289) did some duty in CN's London Yard for a while, so it was cool to see these locomotives working back in 2019.

Yeah these were like the first couple Locomotives CN had when they took back the freight on the Guelph Sub in late 2018. I have no idea what's there now. So long ago...lol

If you think this is obscure. I have 2 other places from this year. Oxy Vinyl (near Thorold) and Cere Global Ag (port Colborne). No set release dates for those videos, because they will be 10-15 minute long edits. Those will take some time to finish, but hopefully one of them will get finish by the end of 2023.

That place has changed its name so many times from Smurfit-MBI to RockTenn and now Westrock.

Yeah definently they had more recent and previous names. I don't know why I specifically mentioned smurfit-mbi. I guess I only remember smurfit-mbi containers on long haul trucks would have that logo. It was hard for me to connect that WestRock and Smurfit-mbi were the same company. I thought for long time they were sharing the same building, but different companies.

I haven't really explore Niagara Falls area too much. Although I'm planning on visiting the area more this year. It'll probably include a combination of GO and Amtrak trains.
