I have been working on leash training with my dog. You really are the best dog trainer on youtube. Definitely changed my views on training. I tried only positive (treat) training and it semi-worked. He does his tricks but doesn’t really know them (realized this after your other video). Please keep the videos coming. I’m learning so much to become a better dog owner.

This is number one item to train, IMO, because SAFETY comes first. The park entrance in the fence is very important because after that comes stimuli from all directions. I get my dog to walk backwards and forwards at heel just as we get to the threshold. Next learning step is to have him stop looking for prey items and proceed as usual for some time, then I can release him to pee and scout around.

I was training this right from the start and even through that I was not expecting that I’d need it, it worked when I was taking my gsd outside but I wasn’t expecting all doors to be open due to renovation work on our bathroom. I watched as my dog raced through all the opened doors and I kinda prepared for embarassing moment because there were people on the street walking their dog and our gate was open. To my big surpise my dog did not ran out of the front door and instead she sat down and waited. I’m not strict with this rule in the house but with the front door I’m very strict.

This was really helpful I’m training my 5 month old golden retriever Great Pyrenees mix that was supposed to just be a golden. He is 5 months old and it’s going to be a lot like the waiting for his food. His recall is solid we constantly test both in my back yard and random places with a 20 foot lead. He has been in a park full of kids pet stores hiking trails and always comes right to me

I am glad you said the part about not saying sit or stay. My dog does better when I don't try to add a bunch of extras. She will sit on her own or stay if I place her.

I begin threshold training by opening the front door a crack too small for him to even try, and slamming the door. He's on leash, of course, so he cannot get hurt when the door is open further. So then I open the door further and further, always shutting it quickly, then I start leaving the door open giving him opportunity. No corrections ever needed when the dog knows how a door can slam on him - as in real life! Save a dog's tail from accidents.

What kinds of plans do you offer, and how much do you charge to work with dogs ?

With my hybrid German Aussie Shepherd there is no amount of common sense that will work with him. He is a year old, very strong and extremely hyper. Only weighs 67 lbs. Easy to teach tricks. Show him once, give praise or treat and he'll do it. That's because he loves his jobs and since he isn't herding tricks are a job and he loves it. I still have to use e collar with threshold. He wants to do what he wants. Very stubborn this breed. EVERY time we go to door he's all over the place I ring the bell then he decides to sit. If not then I raise my arm with remote and he knows I'm not playing and sits until I give ok to go out. Then same thing at top of five stairs off porch. Every time and I wonder how long before he gets it. He's way too smart for me to believe he doesn't get it yet. I taught him to jump through a hulahoop in less than an hour. So what's up with the same sh** of constantly having to work so hard at the door? I love this trainer.

How do you stop your dog/puppy from digging?

What about say you let it out the back door then it comes back in do you have to give it permission to go back out again or say the frontroom or kitchen if you give permission then it comes back in do you need to give it permission again? Im confused on hiw concistent you need it: like say im going in the front room from the kitchen and have the doors open ive gave it permission to exit kitchen and enter frontroom but then it wants to go back in kitchen to get a drink, do i need to give it permission to exit the kitchen and enter the frontroom again?

Hopefully this works because im tired of chasing my cousins dog every time someone forget to close the door behind them.

great video. unfortunately, the people who need it most wont watch it. and the people who already know how to do it learned through trial and error. i stood in front of my puppy and praised him when he sat, then started praising when he'd look at me, then he'd get his release outside. no tutorial needed. no food needed. no correction needed. those who need a 16 minute video for this probably dont need a dog. no shame to you, i love your channel & the resources you put out. just sucks that not everyone has this level of common sense.
