On the first day of work, I had to travel to the office for my orientation. It was a work-from-home call centre job, so they made me bring my PC in to be inspected. Just the tower, but it was still a hassle to lug around. So I needed to phone a private taxi as I don't drive. But in the stress of moving my PC, I left my phone in the cab. It must have fallen out of my pocket as I held the tower. I had to borrow my new boss's phone to inform the car company and get another taxi to take me home his after the day was finished. In the end, I got my phone back, and my boss was great, but my first day was horrible as I felt so embarrassed 😢 Edit: Glad I didn't use Uber or Lift, as I feel like I wouldn't have gotten my phone back.

I got a job as a bartender through an agency. They gave us some training which was fun and helpful. But the first day was when the boss called me one Friday and told me there'd be a gig in three hours or so. But there was a catch: I couldn't tell anyone that it was my first time ever at the job. So there I was, a young guy eager to please everyone and be a good boy, doing my best to pretend that I was a seasoned bartender. Nothing catastrophic happened, but I didn't have much luck with bartending jobs after that, so that summer was spent mostly washing dishes and stuff like that.

When I was in my 20s I was an assistant Manager at Walgreens. My hiring manager got promoted and left. A new manager came on board and for some reason he just didn't like me and EVERY SINGLE day he would threaten to fire me. Not a day that goes by that he didn't threaten me. I eventually left Walgreens and that is the worst company I have ever worked for. I told myself, I would never treat my employees like that. After moving on, I treated my employees as if they were gold. They were most valuable thing to me. Bought them lunch almost every day. Set goals and hand out rewards for accomplish them early.

Burger King during our small towns festival. It was supposed to be 2 experience workers, and 2 new workers (another person and myself) plus 1 manager. Both of the experienced workers quit that day and no one could come in. So it was 2 brand new workers and 1 manager. We were swamped. We closed at midnight and didn't get out of there till like 2:30 am. Didn't help that I went in there higher than a kite.

His breakout role was actually as a regular on St. Elsewhere, a medical show that definitely led to starring movie roles. But I’d say Glory, where he played a former slave who joins a Union army all-black regiment that won him his Best Supporting Actor Oscar. That may be his breakout film role. Training Day he won Best Lead Actor, but I always remember Glory as where I saw how charismatic, strong, and likable he could be given the right material. Another one you might want to check out is Man on Fire. It’s very much in the vein of The Equalizer but with much different stakes and actually preceded that role.

Denzel can do anything and be just incredible. He is one of the greatest actors ever, for sure. You should check out more from this director. His name is Antoine Fuqua and he has made some wonderful movies such as Tears of the Sun, Shooter, and The Magnificent Seven (also with Denzel and Ethan Hawke). He also directed The Equalizer, so he and Denzel have done a lot together. Also, to answer your question around 13:15, if you swallow bindles of something then it is a gamble if your stomach acid eats through the balloon or not. If it does, you will most likely overdose and die. If it doesn't, you will poop it out later. If the cops know you swallowed something, the most common approach is to take you to jail, put you in a cell without a working toilet, and fish the bindles out of the shit later. It is called being "dry celled" and it is unpleasant, but effective.

In Glory, Denzel plays a character that has a lot of anger.. mad at the world and everyone in it. and by the end you just cry rooting for him. He won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Costarring Morgan Freeman. But for sheer Denzel? Man on Fire is IT. There is a reason he worked with Tony Scott so much.

One of the best acting performances ever! Denzel was so good in this, even though we all saw how messed up his character really was, he still remained somewhat likeable until the very end. Honestly, I would just love to see Denzel in a proper villian role once more

Remember the Titans is his best likeable role. I believe Glory was his first big role as a supporting actor and he won an academy award, golden globe, NAACP image award. On screen with Matthew Brodrick, Morgan Freeman, Cary Elwes, and Captain Holt himself.

Denzel won an Academy Award for this performance, although deserved at the same time it was a makeup award for the Oscar’s historic blunder for Denzel not winning it for Malcolm X prior which to this day most people say he should’ve gotten it for.

To me his breakout role had to be in Glory... Which helped lead to X... One of his hidden gems for me is a detective noir film called Devil in a Blue dress... Then there's Ricochet, the Siege, Remember the Titans, the Manchurian Candidate remake and Inside Job are my favorites... I think you guys could do one of these a week for the next few months 😂🔥💯

At 26:34 - George says 'this is what happens when you have max charisma'. Yeah, exactly, Denzel is so charming that even though he's a horrible criminal and directly advocating actions that Hawke is supposed to spend his life preventing, you listen to him. This role is a demo reel for why Denzel is so well regarded as an actor.

His other big villain role is American Gangster. I'd say the role that exploded him was Malcolm X. A movie that, to this day, a shockingly small amount of black people have seen considering his star power. Which just shows how controversial the man himself was. Even despite the fake embrace he's received recently from scheming cons.

Commenters here are bringing up Denzel’s role in “Glory”, which got him his first Oscar; but his first movie role, a movie which was also nominated for several Oscars, was “A Soldier’s Story”. It’s a movie that not many people mention or remember, but was fantastic and well worth watching and reacting to. Denzel was good enough to get nominated, but the actor who played his Sargeant got a Best Supporting Actor nomination (I think he won that year too).

American Gangster (Denzel as a equally terrifying and charismatic, if not more than Alonzo, as he plays a NYC prolific drug kingpin, Frank Lucas- BASED ON REAL EVENTS). And for a good Guy, like The Equalizer, -- watch the film, The Book of Eli(With Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis)-- ALSO A VERY UNDERRATED FILM and one of my favorites: The Siege, starring Denzel, Bruce Willis, Annette Bening and Tony Shalhoub.-- however some films that run the gambit which tests his range: Flight, Crimson Tide, Glory(one of his first), He Got Game, Fences, and The Great Debaters. Try. Them. All. And heck, throw in The Mighty Quinn and Roman J. Israel Esq..

Oh and also an observation worth mentioning, "Strong Safety" in American football (which Roger was able to immediately identify Hoyte as having played at North Hollywood High), is considered the last line of defense against the offensive team... so in essence, Jake was built metaphorically to be the last line of defense against not only the criminals, but the corrupt law enforcement, as well.... He represents the only thing that stands in the way of both crime and corruption, and it is only because of Jake's level of incorruptible decency that he was both the perfect fall-guy for Alonzo, but ironically also Alonzo's ultimate undoing... Pick a green, idealistic, morally-intact rookie, and expect him to succumb to the harshness of the system they all find themselves in... but instead, Jake's purity and steadfastness is what ultimately reigns supreme and defeats Alonzo without ever even having to fire a shot at him (except one in the ASS for good measure)!
