It's time for summer vacation! ☀️ So I'm taking a step back from serious running and taking things slow.... and getting ready for the Leadville 100 ultramarathon.
In this video, I'll recap my spring half-marathon at the NYRR Brooklyn Half Marathon, share what it was like jumping from a road half into a 50-mile trail race in the San Juan mountains of Colorado, and a preview of Hope Pass, the high point of the Leadville 100 trail ultra marathon race course.

In order to help the algorithm: As a serious athlete my goal for the rest of the season is the pentathlon at states championship which is something the hobby joggers in the comment section won't relate to because other than the 1500m - which is actually run kind of fast - it also includes sprinting, throwing and jumping.

So previous hints about becoming a trail runner were Serious after all! This was thoroughly entertaining, just the right length, and I had no temptation whatsoever to unsubscribe, let alone skip to Eva. Good luck with Leadville. If you get into WSER, my coach has been asking me for years if I want to volunteer there. He’s managed the finish line for a long time but is pivoting to managing an aid station. I’ll accept if you get in.

I believe NYRR removed half marathon races to qualify for the full as of last year (2023). Source: me, running 1:15 in Brooklyn but still needed to run sub 2:36 for a full marathon to get into NYC 2025, but you crushed that race!

I keep reading the qualifying page for NYCM and it seems like NYRR half marathons still count. They still publish Half-marathon qualifying times... I thought you weren't allowed to use a non-NYRR race, but their own races count?

@@TheSeriousRunner Your analysis looks correct. I suppose if Lars had run 1:15 at some other Brooklyn half (not the "RBC Brooklyn Half by NYRR") it wouldn't count, but the NYRR half marathons clearly still do.

Thats a neat camping van and setup. Does it get internet? Do you use it to work remotely if you take trips to the mountains? Would be a cool video doing a tour of the CO van life

Thanks. We currently have a Verizon MiFi which is a hotspot, but we're looking into a mini Starlink since so many camping spots in CO have zero cell service. We mostly use it for weekend trips, and occasionally for working remotely during the summer.
