Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Winchester on the South Western Main Line where services are seen by South Western Railway and CrossCountry.
Winchester is a lovely 2 platformed station with nice views from both directions. The station has a good amount of variety going through it and is easy to work out due to its very well organised service pattern making it easy to figure out where things are coming from especially. This station is also notoriously good for having great speeds for passing freight as it's on a straight track and during this particular session, this was no exception, it was fantastic and I'd stay here all day if I knew freight was going to always do that more frequently. The archways as you leave towards Eastleigh are brilliant and make for a lovely entrance when you're on the train arriving into this lovely little city. Overall, a fantastic visit and well worth filming at if you haven't yet.
