Trams After Dark at the Sydney Tramway Museum. Join me at the Sydney Tramway Museum where we see “Trams After Dark”, which is exactly what the name suggests. The trams there were P car 1497, R1 car 1979 and the Nagasaki tram, all of which ran well into the night which is very rare at the STM. I attempted to film on board the Nagasaki tram but there was an extremely loud and annoying person sitting opposite me so I scrapped the video on board the Nagasaki tram. The video features some action shots of the P and R1 cars along with a cinematic ride on board P 1497. I filmed this on the same day as my Springwood video (I’m so tired 😭)

Thanks @HotheadWill , the vibe down there was very cool and eerie watching the old trams running at night with rain, something that is extremely rare at the STM. I'm quite happy with my camera work too and you can be sure to see more videos like this in the future. Thanks mate! ☺

I really enjoyed this video and my memories of riding the trams are limited as I was 6 years old when I rode the trams with my grandmother in 1958 on the last day of service across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and on the very last day of service in 1961 again with my grandmother. Fun fact: The "do not spit in the car" was necessary at the time because men would use "chewing" tobacco, which couldn't be swallowed and needed to be spat out because of the large amount of saliva and tobacco that was produced by chewing. Pubs during that time had "spittoons," which were containers to spit into and were placed in various locations around the bar. Trams didn't have these, and consequently, some people would spit on the floor or out of the doors of the trams. Excellent video. Well done 👏 👍

Thanks John! Times have certainly changed since these trams rolled through Sydney’s streets 70 years ago, and thanks to the tireless efforts of the volunteers at the STM people are able to experience what transport was like in Sydney long before their time. I love going down to the tram museum and my task for my tram vlogs is to make a video on EVERY SINGLE operational tram at the STM. I always wondered what would make people spit on the floor so much that they had to put up signs prohibiting it. Thanks for sharing your stories as usual and I’m glad you enjoyed my video 😊
