I have seen 4 of the TSO concerts they were earth shaking They made it snow in the arena The singers were so good and the band (TSO) played with such passion, Now when they go to concert they hire from local orchestras and are well taken care of They also present The locals with a check for the music programs in the area Of you see them in your area get a ticket its so worth the time and you will not forget the adventure. One sad note one of the founders passed a couple years back He was the key board player and concidered a genius by his piers. They travel the country doing their Christmas Show starting in the fall This is the best band if you want to see classical music played like Rock & Roll. Maggie contact them and interview the leader hes a great talker

Sabotage actually had another singer after Stevens left. It was Damon Jiniya he toured with them in 2001 and 2002 before they went on hiatus and focused on TSO. It was one of the last shows I saw at the Station Nightclub in RI before the fire. I have seen TSO every tour since 2000, sometimes more than once per tour. A lot of talent has graced their stages over the years. As much as I love these big shows with lights, lasers and pyro, sometimes I miss the small theater shows.

TSO in concert is an experience. I've seen them in concert each of the past 15 or so years. A must see!

Yes, they do kick glute instrumentals, but they also have some fabulous vocal performances as well, and they are not just Christmas, they have a wonderful prog rock show with the theme of Beethoven's Last Night.

For me it's when they do the Savatage deep cuts like Believe, Chance, etc. Especially the layered vocal ones like Chance.

🎄 Their live performances are amazing. I got tickets last year for my sweetheart and me to see them and thoroughly enjoyed the entire concert. Maggie, If you ever get the chance to see them, do it. They make operatic rock!

Criss Oliva was a masterful guitarist and his brother was a really good vocalist. I would take a look at Hall of the Mountain King, The Unholy, or When the Crowds are Gone.

This is a show that must be experienced live - I have seen TSO about a half-dozen times live and it is more and more amazing each time!

You really have to check out the live performances from this year. Moriah Formica from PLUSH is one of the lead vocalists and absolutely KILLS it! She sings " This isn't what we meant"

Not a bad song. Originally released on Savatage's "Dead Winter Dead" album, it was funny, this song was around on the metal scene for nearly a decade before it went mainstream with radio play and suddenly everyone's mother was listening to it, lol. There are better tracks on that album, but this is the only Christmas themed one. But you should check out Jon Olivia's voice on the other tracks, or better, his solo work. A very unique voice, quite theatrical, and unique. I'd recommend his song "Reality's Fool" (Jon Olivia's Pain - Monarchical Renderings) or "St. Patrick's" (Savatage - Streets). Savatage also has a second vocalist, Zack Stevens, who is decent, though I don't think his voice has aged as well. He also fronted Circle to Circle. And Guitarist Chris Caffery sings as well, his solo stuff has been pretty good. You might enjoy his song "Pisses Me Off" for it's lyrical content, but his song "Music Man", while not as fun, is objectively better musically. Savatage was a great band. They did go a little to much into "Christian Rock" in the end, but it wasn't bad. It had a much darker tone than most Christian Rock.

I love TSO. I’ve seen them live twice. Quite an experience. So many great rock infused Christmas classics. Guess what A Mad Russian’s Christmas covers! And Christmas Canon Rock.

You shcheck out Savatage Hall of the mountain king. Like you said several members of the metal band formed TSO. You can definitely hear their metal roots and guitar work in both along with the vocals in other TSO songs. Definitely something to check out

Have seen this group in concert a number of times. It's not just the music but the light show they put on during the live show. If you have never seen one of their concerts please do yourself a favor and see at least one.

Thank you Gant! This is my favorite contemporary holiday concert and/or album to blast every year! I also love that this epic-ness is followed by 'Christmas Canon' and 'O Holy Night' with Michael Crawford and the kids' choir (another idea if Maggie hasn't done either of those yet). I'm also pumped because I get to see them live shortly after Christmas for the first time!

You should check out other TSO albums. All of their full-length albums focus on a central story. "Beethoven's Last Night" is a favorite album of mine, telling the story of how Beethoven spends his last night alive.

If I'm not mistaken, one of the guitarists is named Jack Frost. I know he plays in one of the live versions of TSO, but I'm pretty sure he was on their first couple of records.

As a vocalist, you really should check out their non-instrumental songs, as they marry the Christmas carol with the power ballad masterfully---with a flourish of Broadway-style bravado, e.g., "An Angel Came Down," "An Angel Returned," "The Lost Christmas Eve," and "What is Christmas?" But the most epic vocally is the chorus from their version of "What Child Is This?"

Don´t know why everybody always recommends "Hall of the mountain king", i personally think it´s not one of the best Savatage songs, Gutter ballet, on the other hand, i agree.

@@celtasnake Sometimes people only like/remember hit songs because of exposure (MTV/radio, etc. The Hall of the Mountain King was a hit and had rotation on MTV. It's fine if you don't like it, but others do.

First time I saw this video, I remember thinking “these mofos are ripping off Savatage”. Then I saw who was involved with TSO and was happy they’re all making money. I was working in a record store when this song was on the Savatage album Dead Winter Dead. We had all the sold people coming in to buy it. I kept stressing that the record is way different than this one sone. Everyone still bought it.
