The GLP-1 program announcement brought tears to my eyes. I just started tirzepatide treatment last Friday. This program is exactly what I need. I’m 41, love weight lifting (but have just started back after a 7 year hiatus). I lost my dad 2 years ago to complications of type-2 diabetes. He was only 62. I have a 7 year old daughter and I can’t go down that same path.

Awesome podcast, I listen every day and sometimes twice a day because I'm still catching up on old episodes. I only found you guys about 4 months ago and have really changed my mentality towards eating and working out ever since. Thank you guys for all your work, you have changed my life. I only did yoga before, now I eat more than ever and I'm starting to lift and I'm really enjoying the mental and physical differences I am seeing.

I was introduced to the podcast a mere 6 weeks ago, when the first episode you did with Dr Gabrielle Lyon popped up in my suggested list, and I thought to myself “this looks interesting”, and my lunch break ended up blowing out to an hour and three quarters, as I had to finish the episode! I have been hooked since that first experience and have watched so many more episodes since then, learning so much along the way, all while enjoying the entertainment aspect of the show. The impact Mind Pump Show has had on me in such a short space of time is huge. I have held a gym membership since the beginning of last year, but haven’t worked out in the gym once, because I was too anxious at the thought of going, didn’t know where to start, was scared of feeling and looking silly, didn’t have the confidence to work with a trainer… this week I attended an initial consult with a lovely trainer at my gym, shared my concerns and my goals with her (with the advice you’ve given about what makes a good trainer, red flags to look for etc., firm in my mind), and will be working with her starting next week - kicking off with MAPS Starter! I really can’t thank you guys enough for helping me to take this leap! Side note: how awesome is Brad! The world needs more Brads!

I’ve been doing this ALL WRONG. I’ve been told (by one of the trainers at my gym) to warm up with cardio, then do 20 minutes of stretching and THEN start weight lifting. Thank you for this episode!!!

You guys fucking rule. I’m the same age as you all. No matter how much I’ve learned about biology from you and others, I’m still living by the old gym class theory of stretching. Only difference is I’ve learned that dynamic stretching should be used before lifting instead of static, but learning that’s it’s the CNS and not actually STRETCHING the muscle blew my shit off. 10/10. I’ll admit, I cut static stretching and yoga a few years ago to focus on mobility. I stopped stretching after my workouts too. Wow, you bring up good points in the value of breathing with static stretching! I’m going to be incorporating breathing with static stretches after my workouts and before bed. Thank you, this was a great topic!!!

How was the process with Transend?
@TH-il8mn
@TH-il8mn 2 ай бұрын
@@hockeymomavalon2499 I was very pleased. Have your medical history and supplement, medication, and OTC list ready to go when you fill out the intake questionnaire as it cannot be added to once submitted. I was able to use my FSA card and received a very good rate for the number of tests they ran. I gave 6 tubes of blood. The wellness specialist I spoke with knew exactly what was going on with me (I had all my historical blood work up when we spoke and have I good idea of what my issues are already). A suggested protocol was given and when I suggested an adjustment, they were very accommodating. I paid for the items using a credit card. Key point: after you pay, you must schedule an appointment with a provider for an "annual" right away or your order will not be shipped. Right after I spoke with a nurse practitioner, my order was processed and I received a shipping notice. Just know your items may come from different pharmacies. Products will be shipped on ice, but as these must be refrigerated, I'd arrange for someone to get your box into a refrigerator when it is delivered if you can. Directions were easy to follow for use. If getting injectables, be sure they are sending you enough needles. Four months of a weekly injection will require 12 needles and they come in packs of 10. Let me know if you have other questions.

Yes! Love the news about a program with GLP in mind. I've been on Semaglutide for 8 months. Started low at .25. The highest dosage was 1.0 for only 1 months. Went down to .50 and using that dosage to maintain. Weight train 2-3 times a week and manage my protein intake. Not perfect but changing my health habits. Can't wait. Wow that’s awesome! It sounds like you are doing great but one thing I’ve learned is don’t put too much pressure on yourself to lose those __ last pounds. Focus on healthy eating and putting on lean muscle. The number on the scale is not necessarily the determining factor on your fitness and health. Keep up the great work!

"The last thing you want to do, especially before an activity like a sport, where you are going to lift really heavy, is to completely relax a muscle that you are about to call upon, especially explosively, right." Umm, gymnastics anyone? I competed in men's all round from 87 to 93. We always did a round of static stretching at the beginning of each practice or meet. We would also dynamically warm up before each event whether we were competing or practicing. Now maybe it's more of an edge case in your opinion, but think of baseball and football professionals warming up right now. The teams and players have a vested interest in preventing injury. They are making a boatload of money. They were some of the first that we saw adopting dynamic stretches into their warm-ups. That being said, you can go to any game right now and watch them warm up. Most of their warm-ups are dynamic. However, you will find them doing a few static stretches. To your point those stretches are targeted to specific muscles for that sport. However, what I am trying to point out is that you do see more static stretching still in today's athletes then you were alluding to. It's not like when I was in the army and everything was static, but neither is it completely dynamic either.

I was extremely interested in Mariah’s question. I’m a shift worker as well doing a similar shift pattern. I’m 55 and I’ve been trying to gain more muscle. I tried your 40+ but didn’t really suit me. So I bought Muscle Mommy. I’m unable to do the full body so I’ve split it so I do it over 6 days. So with the fact you say you’re constantly looking to do new programs. Are you planning anything for shift workers?

I got REALLY lazy with stretching, mobility, and balance work over the years. This set me up for eventual injury. Now I do all three daily. Big shocker..I feel the best I have in years. Now don't get me wrong. It's definitely a time investment. But flexibility, mobility, and balance are all first to go with age. Especially in the shoulders and hips. Since I love how good I feel, my commitment year round is walking 15-20K steps and working on my flexibility/mobility/balance every single day. The full body lifting I do 3x per week and any formal cardio is all extra credit.

Would love for someone to answer a question I have about stretching.. the women I learned most from when I started working out, would always say that after working a specific muscle you should stretch that muscle back to resting length.. I’ve been doing that for decades, however I’ve never heard anyone else mention it or never seen anyone in the gym ever do it.. is it even a thing?

I think the protein information given to the young lady from Canada was incorrect... She said .8-1 grams per kilogram of body weight, it should be .8-1 gram per pound of body weight... In kilograms it would be 2 - 3 grams per kilogram of body weight. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

emma here from the podcast! that’s why i asked because im just finished taking my personal trainer course and the macros they said that’s recommended sedentary adults is .8grams/kg and active and to build muscle was 1.6-1.8g/kg! ☺️
@StevefromCincinnati
@StevefromCincinnati Ай бұрын
@@emmawest5211 I was always under the assumption the amount of recommended protein only fluctuates if your current goals change, such as bulking or cutting, then you would set the amount based on your target body weight and not your actual weight, but the baseline of 1.6-1.8 per kg is the daily recommended value regardless of lifestyle... Maybe I've been spending too much money on unnecessary chicken breast the last few years. 😭
