Most if not all Cybertronians choose their names based on professions, skills and of course their alternative form be it vehicles, machinery, weapons platforms or even beast mode, Also its funny as hell when Starscream is the normal guy

Optimus Prime is actually the playon words of the Latin words "Optimum Primus" which means "The Best First".

I think people forgot Hotshot because Bumblebee was very much Cybertron Hotshot. The young, sports car Autobot.

They used Hotshot for one scene in Animated and he was the main character of Rescue Bots Academy.

I don't get how Cliffjumper knows those things. If any autobot would know about this stuff it would be Hound, since he is fascinated in humans and wishes he could be one.

Ratchet's name was intended to be a reference to Nurse Ratchet and he was supposed to be female. Hasbro and Marvel didn't want to have to explain fembots and scrapped the idea.
